Guys, I,ve always wanted one of these for my collection and I,m about to drop the hammer on one since Pyramyd Air dropped the price. Problem still is that I,d really like one in 22 caliber. I,m wondering if anyone out there would have one in 22 cal. that they'd want to sell? I,d even go so far as to buy a new one in 177 cal and trade you for it.
I,d also like to take a second to wish you all a Happy New Year! and thank you all for your tuning business and the kind words about my work. I,m looking foward to a better year and getting to work on alot more of your rifles. I always aim to please. Thanks, John
Didn't you just get a 46 a couple weeks ago? Must be nice. lol. I haven't messed with mine much since I got the TX.I haven't even put a scope on it yet. Still waiting for my rings from Compasseco. Ive been too busy to bring the TX to you for a tune so I opened her up today and did a relube with JM's stuff and a little polishing on the trigger group. I've been shooting it with no scope or sights. lol. just pointing and shooting at trees trying to get a feel for her. Whens that shoot in Jefferson? I'd like to try and make it over. The only thing I have scoped right now is my 52 and my 34 with the get smart barrel that shoots around corners. lol. Wait til you see that thing. lol. You will not believe how much I had to bend the barrel to correct for a windage problem. Very disappointing for my first new RWS purchase. Oh well, good luck with your Stutzen quest.
And thats what I,ll be useing at the match next wenesday evening. I,ve been practicing with it since I got it last Saturday and we've been doing great. I,ll have the B40 I used last year along as a spare jusy in case.If you want to borrow a scope or a rifle to use ,let me know.I gotta put some pics of it on here because it,s a beauty!
What time is that shoot? You say its open to the public right? Do they have a web site? My scope is supposed to be here tomorrow. I bought a Nikko 6-24x56mm mill-dot w/ sidewheel for the TX. I already have a Leapers 4-16x50 for the 46. Both sets of rings will be here monday. Compasseco was the cheapest I could find the Beeman 5030m's and the 5031's. I just did a lube on the 46 since the wife and kids are gone. Not as good of results as the Tx200. The 46 mainspring looked like a snake and shes still twangin. The piston seal had a small nick in the edge and the inside of the gun was bone dry everywhere. Unbelievable. Shes gonna need a kit.
I believe they open the shoot at 1:00 pm but I,m not sure. It's on until 8:00pm and it,s open too the public. Its a very nice club with alot of ranges. The website is www.jeffersonsportsmen.org They charge $4.00 to shoot and its a forty shot competition. i hope to see you there!
Hi John
I have been on here and several air gun web sites and have had a request out for a 46 Stutzen in .22 for several years now and havn't come up with anything .
I'd also LOVE TO HAVE ONE IN .22
I'm going to be calling / writing you about doing my RWS 34 .22 that is about 3 yrs old and that I took down and bured and lubed but has all stock parts in it .
I'd like it to shoot abt 750 -800 ? I uses abt abt 14.2 RWS round domes or the RWS Flat nose or the H points .
I don't have a chrony so I have no idea what it is shooting at . The trigger is the 05 version and it's so so I guess I'd like that to be a bit smoother and at about 2 lbs .
But I will give you a call ....Warren sent me some parts and I have a Macarri GRT spring . ( I'll send you all the stuff and if you use it fine if not it's your s .)
I would imagine you want the gun ( after we talk ) sent to you without the scope right ?? )

if John does your trigger prepare yourself to patch drywall holes in your house LOL
just kidding Jerry but John did one of my 34's and did not tell me about the work he did on the trigger, it will not be the same trigger and you will have to get accustomen to a very light and crisp trigger
this 34 is dated 02/03 with a TO5 trigger, first stage is long and then you feel a small amount of resistace and then it is "BANG" and that travel from 1st to 2nd stage is in milliseconds
none of my other 34's (40 and Panther) have the same pull in the trigger, heck Diana should send all triggers to John before they sell them
I tried to find one about a year ago but ,no response. Someday I,ll find one.
As for your 34, 700-750 is do able with a 34 but 800 makes for a very harsh firing cycle and I don,t recomend it at all. The model 48,52,54,350 mag and 460 are more what you want for the 800+ range. Drop me a email and we,ll work it out. John
I am Jerry Leskovec jleskovec@sbcglobal.net and I have talked with Warren several times about You / Your EXCELLENT WORK aside from the raving testimony from what I see on the Forum .
He said he would / did / will contact you about me . I do have a a Smithy 3 in 1 Lathe / Mill but m not sure what to do and what to do with whatever it is I would make ???
I did have you Phone number but it is lost in my pile of rubble on my desk ( New Years resolution CLEAN IT UP and Categorize all the subjects / info / etc .
Anyway ..... I need you , if you care to send me your E-mail and or Phone #
I talked with warren abt and also saw your post about my RWS 34 .22
All I want is what ever it is shooting now to increase it by about 50 -70 ft per sec. and smooth out the trigger to about 2 - 2 1/2 Lbs .
If you care to get back to me let me know your charge including shipping etc . as I said with the gun I'll send you a Maccrie GRT spring and whatever came with it and what Warren sent me .

They do turn up, but they don't go cheap, especially in 22. You might try a wanted on the yellow classifieds or Brad's American Airgun classifieds.
The Ruger Mannlichers are nice looking guns. Don't know why they discontinued that stock. I like the stainless laminated version from WalMart about fifteen years ago.
OK John, here's how you get in the .22 Stutzen business.
Get the .177 Stutzen. Cut and recrown the barrel on your .22 46. move the cocking lever & the front sight assembly from the 46 to the Stutzen. voila, .22 Stutzen.
Now take the remains of the .177 Stutzen and put on the front sight assembly. Mod the cocking handle to fit the new length and voila, a 46 compact. You could easily sell a 46 compact in the US, possibly trade it for a .22....
Dear Stutzen fans: it doesn't matter if you take the .177 or the .22 Stutzen because you will become the owner of the best looking air rifle available ! To compare: the .22 is very "slow" because the action is the same as teh Diana 34 so all of you who know the performance of this rifle can compare .117 / .22 ! I prefer the .177 for the nice and flat bullet traject AND the relative high speed of 263 m./sec. ! For hunting with this .177 you can use the Haendler and Natermann Silver Point ( heaviest pellets of H/N ) what gives you a very "fast" and accurate hunting rifle. I know the American's "like it big" but in these times you have to go for super performance and durability, buy the best for all circumstances Best regards from Johannis.
In 0.177", however, it is a true "Gentleman's birding gun"
In my mind, it goes hand in hand with Loden jackets and hats, mountain air, heavy boots; and the unmistakeable bugle of the red stag deep in the Alpine forests!
A good friend in Austria keeps the trees immediately surrounding his house clear of woodpeckers' holes using a Stutzen in 0.177". He has only had to kill 2, most are intelligent enough to understand with the first few warning shots that they can peck whatever trees they want across the lake, but NOT JUST BY the house, LOL!
Curiously enough, and another show of how intelligent and adaptable wildlife can be, they know they can eat in the ground wherever they want, but they have learned that making holes on trees by the house is a definite no-no.
Good description of a funny ( little bit fat ) Bavarian guy with a Stutzen in his hand and smoking an old fashioned stone-pipe with a metal cap on it ! I like your way of writing and thinking very much Hector ! This is the portrait of the average "Bayrische Waldjáger" ! And yesL with his Stutzen of course, beste regards from Johannis.
I have 46's in .177 and .22. You are right in your analysis of the .177 having enough speed to have good shooting characteristics. The .177 is just under 12 fpe and the .22 just under 14 fpe. The .177 gives you a good range of flat trajectory; I don't know if the .22 has a flat spot at all; seems like I'm sending out a lob. All that notwithstanding, I find the .22 is a fun gun to shoot. It carries good downrange energy and has predictable pellet drop, so it is also highly accurate if you compensate. I mostly use it for plinking for the way it moves around tin cans and spinners vs the .177 mosquito bite. Its all good!
My Haenel III is in .22 and, while not a powerhouse (now or seventy years ago), it is a very pleasant gun to shoot. I think I would not like it in .177 quite as well since it reminds me very much of a pre-WWII German rimfire. Don't get me wrong, I do like the .177. And that caliber is much easier to find off the shelf, more and more so these days. Also have a Diana 50e tap loader in .22 and it seems to be a choice of caliber for this system. Not so much as regards power as in ease of loading.
If you want a Stutzen in .22, keep your eye out. Of course, if you come across a great deal in .177, by all means, snap it up. Can't hurt to have two if you can afford it.
My 46's in .22 shoot 14.4g at around 660 fps; going to beeman lasers does not net as much as 690 and you then can' hit anything. It is an extremely accurate lob that carries more whack than the 800 fps cpl's that the .177's shoot.
