Hold over

I have a question about scope adjusting/ hold over for heavier pellets. My scope does not have a mil dot system and I have 6oo predator poly mags to shoot up. John in PA recommended the JSB exact in 14.3 grains, so I used them to sight in my scope. Has anyone used up old pellets by readjusting their scope to the heavy pellets then gone back to the setting for the lighter pellets? Am I chasing my tail or is this a legit way to go?

Matt

depending on the distance the effect may reversed

you may shoot higher with heavier pellets. it takes longer for the pellet to leave the barrel with the heavier pellet. sounds counter intuitive but it is not unusual. at longer distances that would be reversed because the lower velocity the pellet would have dropped further because it had been in flight longer and subject to the pull of gravity for a longer time. so, it depends.
at least at short distances beaman kodiaks have a higher point of impact than
beeman fts in my guns. the kodiaks are over 10 grains the fts are mid 8.

Just sight in your gun for a set distance (say 35 yards), then try shooting 20, and 50. See where your pellet is going.

ALWAYS RE-SIGHT YOUR GUN WITH A CHANGE IN PELLET BRAND, MODEL, OR STYLE.
