Hello:
I visited the Diana page, and in the bottom right corner is the image of the new 2009 Catalog, and it shows the images of two new DIanas,
Maybe the FT DIanas??
I tried to download the catalog but the link have the old catalog.
Folks who bought the 48's that were discontinued on Umarex got super deals. If I could tolerate the recoil, I would have had no problem ordering one.
One thing on those superb special stocks down by the last page. What, exactly, do they mean with "walnut pattern"? Man, I HOPE they don't mean the stock has been somehow covered like RealTree! Otherwise, do they make one for a 54??????
I mentioned on another post that I would not buy any new Diana's, but never say never. This new model 28 is very impressive, with match trigger, weight at little over 6lbs and the velocities of where the guns should be, Plus a nice stock. HUM! I wish this gun was out before I had bought my 34.
I've seen this "wood grained look" on some synthetics, mostly center fires. I would not want to pay a premium for faux walnut. To me, this is a BIG step backwards. Did like the custom stockwork checkering, though. Wonder how much that would set you back, ordering from Germany? About equal to having it done Stateside?
Downloaded the 2009 cataloge last night and it was quite interesting. I guess the TH is for their new line of TargetHunter rifles. Nice to see a couple of ambidextrous thumb hole stocks for the lefties and a new metal "match" like adjustable trigger. Wonder if this might be a consumer available replacement for the T05. Would be nice if it were. Noted their new Hunter pellets in .177 with a weight of 15.73 grains. Look a lot like the Sheridan can-shaped pellets, no wasp waist. Might be fun to try. Also their new knock down targets looked interesting. Quite an expansion to their scope line. Now if we could only get Umarex to import some of these items, we'd have some more fun things to play with.
you have an EAGLE eye for wood and so true what you say about that wood Walnut stocks
they are lower than imposters, lower that replicas of the walnut wood stock or even true beech wood
they are not a Joke but SICK to my taste, I would go with a plywood stock with wood from Home Depot or Lowe's and do a laminate wood stock with that wood from these places
learn about the true wood stock, learn about WOOD before you fall for these FAKE wood stocks
warren
PS: no wonder Jan went for the ginb wood stock in his M48, that my friends is true wood and the stock is SUPERBLY carved

Ok, Chris and Warren, I agree with you, seems Diana is going Gamo and going fast! I will not buy a new Diana period. Going to buy only Beemans or HWS or TX's. for springers. I was thinking about a new Diana L8 Pistol, but forget it, I will spend the extra money for a Beeman P1.
I can't figure out why some are so upset with the walnut finished stocks all of a sudden. They had these walnut finished stocks in the 2008 catalog. They sold the 350 magnum superior and the 52 superior last year and had the replacement stocks available last year as well. In fact, the 350 magnum superior was on the cover of the catalog. I have watched this forum for over a year and don't recall people being upset last year with these stocks. Granted, they are not walnut and the price is steep, but maybe some people do like the finish as it is still available this year, or maybe they didn't sell and they are trying to dump them. Who knows. I for one, do not like them in the least. Anyone who has been in the furniture industry knows that a lot of terms go around that describe a finish and the actual wood used. Oak finish on a chest means the finish looks like oak. In many instances, it is not even a solid wood. It can be a particle board core with a printed or embossed oak finish and sometimes the trim pieces can be molded polystyrene(plastic sounds cheap) with a painted or dyed oak finish. It just looks like oak. Genuine oak just means that everything you see on the outside of the chest is oak. The trim and edges are oak, whereas the main panels have an oak veneer. This veneer can be over particle board or a laminate/plywood base. If is says solid oak, then all visible parts are made from oak solids, meaning oak boards. Buy a Kincaid cherry bedroom set. It is not cherry. It is alder with a cherry finish. I degress. I don't think that everything that Diana has done is what I or others would like to see. But, on the other hand, they have tried on some items. Look at the 2 new huntertarget rifles. Look at the new metal "match" type trigger. Will this be a retro fit for the T05? Maybe not, but it might be. How good is it? Is it adjustable for stage 1 and stage 2 and possibly have an adjustable travel stop? Who knows. Many have not been happy with the plastic triggers currently being used. Some have figured out how to make the trigger better, such as Larry Pirrone & Shootist. Curtis came out with a metal trigger and there was a lot of interest in it. That proved to be an interesting thread at times also. A lot of people were not happy with the P5, no way to mount a scope or red dot, plus ridiculous mv rating. They have the LP8 magnum with the integral rail. MV looks much more believable. There is a fair interest in seeing a Diana in .25 being sold over here. Diana makes the 48, 52, 54, 56TH, and the 470TH in .25. I saw another post stating that UmarexUSA has had the 48's in .25 on order for a couple of months and no rifles to date. Maybe they should be talking to someone else over there in Germany. I thought that UmarexUSA was owned by or a subsidiary of UmarexGermany. Umarex has other outlets in other countries. Maybe they could collectively get on Diana's case. As stated earlier, I am not really thrilled with Diana/RWS, but they seem to be trying somewhat. Now if we could just get them to ship some of these items to UmarexUSA things could get better.
you have gone through a GAMA of issues with your post and all are valid and true, long time ago I stated that the next generation of stocks' will eventually be "PLASTIC" because? they are cheap to make, uniform shaped and easy to mold
I was watching a show @ the Discovery Channel about a salvage company retrieving logs from the Great Lakes, it seems some of the barges dumped by accidents many logs of OLD wood due to storms, old barges, etc...
these logs are over 200 years old of the finest wood available today and do you know what they do with them? they are veneered and sold to make they most exquisite furniture or music instruments, they command a hefty figure in the $$ department, you cannot find that wood anymore
at the rate we are going the worlds' forests will disappear in the next 100 years and we will be lucky if we can get a pine #2 wood stock, look at Brazil with the Amazon forests'
TO5 triggers, Chis has opened the Pandora box on this issue with the metal triggers and I have ordered some to send to John in PA, he will do the test's on this trigger
Diana does make the 48, 52, 54, 56TH, and the 470TH in .25 and Umarex USA has been unable to get a hold of ONE of them yet
I call UMAREX at least every once in a while to order something or shoot the breeze with them and Glen has ordered the Model 48 in .25 cal, months ago and they are still MIA
.25 are not produced by Diana in the same quantities as the .177 and .22, they have a limited production and it SEEM's (my opinion) from what I understood that other international markets are selling them for a bigger profit for Diana than that they would get in the USA (economics)
In the meantime, HOLD on to those old air guns, eventually they will not be made anymore not meaning the next generation will not be better, it's just that I like the old generation of air guns' better
