My Diana 48/52 in .177 (late 80's)is very accurate but the sidelever is sloppy and hangs a couple of inches out when tilted to lever side. I read some posts earlier concerning this and I understand that I may have to tighten the rod.
The guy I bought the rifle from actually opened up the inside of the cocking handle cause he thought it was too tight. (ugggh). The side lever is now a little sloppy.
Here's the thing.
This rifle is very accurate. At 15yds I am putting 7 shots inside an area that a dime can cover. (RWS supermags).I called Umarex and for a about a $100 bucks they can go thru the rifle, spring etc and fix the lever. Could the seal be damaged and still allow this accuracy? Earlier posts suggested that a sloppy lever would affect the seal etc. I don't want to give up the accuracy by sending it out.
I am new to air-gunning been buying everything and love the Diana 48/52.
I really learn a lot from the forums and find myself somewhat addicted to my new hobby and the accuracy possible with these rifles.
Look at the face of the breech seal. If it's indented from making contact with the barrel, it may need replacing. If so, replace it before you try to adjust the linkage rod. A bad breech seal can prevent lock up of the cocking arm.
Rob
hurt the accuracy but if they replace the piston seal it will have to go threw a new breakin period. that might have a short term impact on accuracy because the velocity might bounce around for a while. then it should be great.
what i might suggest though is have John in PA do a tune on it. it will perform exceptionally nice after he is done. everything will work well and it should give you many more thousands of accurate shots. i don't lnow what he chareges but form what i have heard on this forum it is well worth it.
I would also give the side-lever a turn or two. I don't think it would hurt and may put you where you want it. I wouldn't go more than a couple turns without checking the seal as Rob said. This you can do yourself. Do yourself a favor and keep your gun at home. I wouldn't send a cap gun to Umarex. Lee
