hawke scope is going back. after about 100 shots on my 46 and about 25 on my
52 the front objective lense is loose in its mount. it rattles around wben i tip the scope. looks like the ring that holds it in place has come loose. a loose objective will not be accurate because it will not "look" in the same place every time.
Just left a voice mail at your office. Please give me a call as quickly as you can so I can rectify this situation today. I can be reached at 877-429-5347. My direct line is 260-918-1429. I will send a replacement today if I can get your shipping address. I will even include a return label for the faulty scope.
he said they had one other one out of many hundreds that had a loose objective. thinks maybe someone on a friday afternoon forgot to tighten down a retainer rind orleft out some adhesive.
i am going to upgrade to an 6x18x44 with the sr12 reticle. i will have to pay the difference but no problem.
really quick. My scope lost it's clarity and went foggy. Left a voice mail for Hawke and Brad replied back in a couple of hours. He asked me what was wrong and asked me to send the scope in for warranty. I sent it in on Monday and received a new scope on Wednesday. Outstanding. They had to have sent the new socpe before they even recieved the old one.
new scope is going out this afternoon. i upgraded to a 4x18x44 with sr 12
reticle. paid the extra 60 bucks over the phone. service does not get much better than that. these guys bend over backwards.
PS - Should we be ragging on you for putting a big scope on a Stutzen? AND shooting a 52 with Peep sights (and don't try to weasel out of it with that story about shooting 30% on FT and switching......)
Sure beats what happened to my Leapers scope. Had it on a D-54 also. Within 50-60 shots, the yardage ring on the A/O bell came unglued. Sent Leapers an e-mail. Now have to prove I bought the scope. No problem. BUT, have to mail the receipt to get an RA number, then ship it with my money. Then wait for their "specialist" to check it out and continue to wait from there. Sounds like a Hawke scope is in my future. Thanks Larry for showing me the way. Lee
The Leapers Scope Warranty has its plus's and minus's. If your scope fails right away, you get the minus's posted. If you've had it for years, you get a new scope for $25.
I had a failure in a couple years and, although my failed scope was still current, I was able to get an upgrade worth $40 street price for $40 So I think I did as good as Larry (with the possible exception of the $8 return shipping as I elected to USPS and ship by stuffing it in my RFD mailbox on one of those horrible snowstorm days).
It all depends on your situation.
Nevertheless, the free swap of a dead scope for a good one sounds better.
when they weren't very popular and hadn't made a name for themselves. I bought one right after straightshooters started carrying the 3-12x50 nite eye model. The AO on mine acted like the lens wasn't rotating when I rotated the ring. I called and talked to Brad and he put a new one in the mail either that day or the next and told me to send mine back when I got the new one. Great service!! I also had a 4-12x40 airmax that apparently wasn't purged completely because it had dust on the inside of the objective lens. It really didn't bother me that much, but I happened to mention it to KYSteve of KY historic salvage (a hawke and theoben dealer) and he told me to send it back and he sent me a new one. On the other hand I had a Bushnell 4200 elite 4-16x40 that started getting what looked like oil spots on the inside of the objective lens. I called, sent it in and about a month later I got it back in like new condition. They replaced the lens and did an internal clean and calibration. So good service from them too, but I would expect that on a $400 scope.

yesterday. this has been a great service experience. i sure like that SR12
reticle. once dialed in with their ballistics program it is going to be great
for FT. i can use hold over or i can use clicks. the reticle takes the guesswork out of holdover.
i centered the scope and it was very close windage wise but i had to shim for elevation. i used two shims. one under the rear of the mount and one in the bottom of the ring. centering for optical center was easy. each turret has
240 clicks. turn it all the way down and back off 120 clicks. from there it was close to center but too low. the shims brough it up to 1.44" low at 5
yards. this is the theoretical equalivalent to being on at 25 yards but range time will get it fine tuned.
And Hawke scopes in general. I wanted the SR12 for a pcp and we got one from Steve Cox who was kind enough to let me look through several different models, I really liked the sidewinder as well as the Eclispe with the nice lit dot. Now once he explained the warranty I decided it needed to be on our FT 48/52, no problems yet.
I use the SR12 for about 8 months and i like the clear crystals, better i think than Varmint series has. But i am not going to put her on heave recoil air guns. I have Varmints for that job.
