Is it normal that the first 5 or 6 shots be sort of a clover leaf,Then settle down to the ragged hole. Its a Diana 20 at aproximate 500 fps Its about 50 degrees in my wood shop where I shoot,Doesnt make a lot of difference which pellets I use to start with but it does like the R10 8.2 the best some times H-N 6.9 are one hole wonders but not always John
I would not be too concerned John,,, this is pretty common. Regardless of the temp in your shop,, many springers like a few "warm up shots" to get settled in. I have been having your same experience for years now. When I go hunting, or am shooting paper,, I always shoot a few "warm up shots" from my springers. This is a topic that has been debated for some time. I challenge you to show me one competative spring gun shooter that does not "warm" his gun up with a few shots?? Good Shootin to Ya John,,, "Old Tim".
Unboxed it, set up a target at about 22 feet and shot a string of ten Gamo match wadcutters. Not even used to this gun, handling and trigger. Offhand with shifting holds and bad eyesight, I got a horizontal spread of about an inch and verticle of half that. Three shots touching side by side and two together. I would bet those last five "groups" were the gun warming up a bit.
