I have two Demo RWS 34 Panthers in hand and am looking at the Hawke adjustable 11mm to Weaver adapter base for use with Hawke 4x12x40mm Airmax scopes.
This base looks to be slimmer and longer than the Leapers/UTG adapter base, does anyone have experiences with this compared to the Leapers version? I plan on mounting a peep to one of he 34's and trying to scope my model 48/52... (and probly try Hawkes Warranty program afterwards)
btw: I am new here, I have an old '85 or so RWS 48/52 with a JM GSI heavy tune kit installed, a stock AA thumbhole S410ERB PCP, a Beeman P1 with a JM spring, and now these two panthers... I have been shooting for a long time and have even more powder burners to choose from but range sessions and cost of ammo is why I am going back to airguns.... I have two JM Tune kits and and greases with Tesla seals enroute for the Panthers already, should arrive tomorrow. I think that I used to be on a forum that JM was on, but was LONG ago...
No experience with the Hawke base, but do have a Leapers droop mount on my 460. It works great now that I have rings with a rectangular stop pin for it. I went with the hype on the base as I never really had any problem with my Leapers one piece scope mount. I would recommend that approach to you if you don't need the Piccatiny because you have a lot of other hardware that you can use if you had the adapter.
Re needing the Hawke Warranty. I believe you will find that scopes are better suited to the recoil of air rifles these days and it is the exception that needs the warranty, not the norm (although, I have found in general that my powder burners, scopes and the like all just worked and did so for many decades with nothing more than good cleanings after each use where air gun stuff started breaking right away. Out of 12 guns and 10 optics, I've had a break problem with 2 guns, three scopes, and a red dot. Of the optics (2 Leapers, 1 RWS, and one BSA red dot), three were manufacturing issues with the adjustments and one was a mystery star crack on the inside of the lens which MIGHT have been recoil related (I attribute to changing temps)
