Shooting my RWS Model 54 this morning, everything seemed normal until I tried to site in my target, everything was out of focus, looked at my scope, A new Bushnell Banner 6-18x50 AO scope. Purchased at the same time I bought the Model 54. The eyepiece was canted,it looks like all the internals pushed rearward. Time to pack it up and review the warranty paperwork. It has a limited lifetime warranty OUCH, I was really enjoying this setup.
Give the Leapers 5th Generation Accushot scopes a try on the 54. You'll just have to replace that Banner over and over and over. Several R9 double gold combo owners have already reported breaking multiple Bushnell Banners on their R9's and that isn't even a super heavy recoiling rifle(the R9 Double Gold combos come with Banners and are notorious for breaking on them. Never understood why they put them on the rifles in the first place. They seem to hold up on R7's well though).
My 4-16x56mm Leapers 5th Gen Accushot sidewheel scope has held up PERFECTLY without a single hint of a problem on my 54 for over 2500 shots now. People have even reported a problem here and there with them, but I don't think they are really using the 5th generation scope. People have reported that the crosshairs have 'broken' on them as well, but that's not true, the reticle is etched into the glass of those scopes and they can't 'break'. They are a perfect match in my opinion for the 54 and extremely well priced for all the features you get with it.
FWIW - the only thing I've been able to keep working on my RWS 52 is: a BSA airgun 3-12x. I have a 40mm and a 44mm objective version - first with around 1500 rounds the second about 200 so far (got the 44mm for $65 last week from Sportsmans Warehouse). I broken two Hawke Varmint 2 8-32x.
Paralax, your scope is a top of the Leapers Line Accushot scope, which also includes 5th Generation Technology. There is a lower line - 5th Generation that has this technology also, just tend to front AO adjust instead of side wheel (and much lower prices right now!). Both have the TS technology, but there are one or two in either class that don't - mainly mini ones with fixed magnification.
Thanks for your imput, I remounted a 5th Generation Leapers 4-16x50 AO/IR scope on my RWS Model 54. I have same scope on four different air rifles including a RWS Model 52,.22cal. Have this setup for over two years and about 2000 pellets thru her and no problems.
