Purchased it new from AoA a few months ago. This one had a bit more power
getting 650-660 fps MV with .22 CPs on 7 pumps and then just 3 pumps per
shot after that kept it at the aforementioned power level. Tested it over
the chrony a number of times with several shot sessions. So 7 pumps from
the jump or the get the ball rolling precharge is one pump less than the
advertised 8 pumps and then after first shot 3 pumps or occasionally 2
or 4 if the telltale spring loaded pressure sensor indicates one less or
one more than 3. Mine seemed to only need 3 pumps and as I stated I tested
it plenty over the chrony.

Why I'm calling mine a Magnum now is because I did some experimenting/testing
and found by using 8 pumps from the jump or the one time precharge and then
after the first shot adding 4 pumps, next shot using 3 pumps, then back to
4 pumps....back and forth 3 and 4 it'd produce MVs with .22 CPs over and over
685-695 fps. Tested it with 30 shots over the chrony.

Kinda nice getting the extra power and I can always switch back to the lesser
power level. Going to try a 5 and 6 pumps beginning precharge with a 1 and 2
pump between shots recharge and see what that yields. May discover another
power level or two that's consistant. Of course there's the second shot without
recharging power levels too. Be sweet using only one or two pumps per shot
while plinking or shorter range hunting/pesting and there's always the switch
to full power that's as easy as switching to the other pump numbers pattern
or routine.

I've got a BSA 3 MOA red-dot on Air Venturi mount on this one and I can keep
.22 CPs inside 1" target dots at 100' almost every time in calm to light breeze
conditions. Thinking about trying a Leapers 4x32 AO/MD scope I've got on the shelf
on it to see if it'll out perform the dot sight at 100' and beyond. I did modify
the Air Venturi mount by cutting the Weaver rail off right at the front end of
the breech to open the place I like to place my left hand when pumping. I think
with the aforementioned scope I'll still be able to get my hand under the scope
and not have to change my pumping technique/method.

Might want to check with Steve in NC about the extra pumps

April 22 2009, 10:42 PM

One might not be bad but could lock up the valve or something if over-pumped. Steve ought to know. Pull up a chair and a fresh pot of coffee as he gets a bit detailed in his explanations/analyses. If you're banned on the Y, have Timmy ask. Tim hangs out at ALL the forums these days.

Tim, leave them turtles ALONE!
