Hello.
I am saving up to purchase a Diana 34 classic .22, I am not using a scope on it for a while and will be using open sights, hopefully I can get a diopter or a peep sight (please recommend a product), Diana Panter has a flimsy plastic front sight that wont survive my ADHD. Also I like wood stock better.

I am reading all D34 post I can find, there is a lot of reading and something caught my attention about pellet weight. I guess the post I am quoting is about a .177 D34:

"Remember, not to shoot heavy pellets with your 34, now or after it gets tuned, and it should last for many years with only some lubes now and then. Leave the heavy pellets for the 20+fpe Magnums. My tuned 36 (same powerplan as 34) sounds a little different shooting 8.9grain Beeman FTS although they are very accurate, the shot cycle is a bit different and slightly more harsh. It does seem to like 7.9 and 8.2-8.3gr pellets a lot better so I 'll stick with those. Discuss this with the tuner as well. Write down a list of questions when you call so you don't forget them.
"

I have a fantasy of shooting heavy pellets, what will it do for the D34? What should be a wise limit. Suppose I wish to hunt a rabbit, what will be the best pellet weight. For plinking?
I think that for regular plinking fun 14.3gr should be ok and maybe up to 20gr for hunting?
Should I try 27gr Eunjin's?

Thanks.

Shoot what is the most accurate and worry about springs later. RWS(Umerex) or Macari has plenty. I have never broken a spring and shot 11.5 grain Silver Arrows out of my 34 for a year and was accurate as hell. I have tried all weights and sometimes change for a few months as my taste changes. Funny thing is its the same spring that was abused and does 900+ with some 7.9 pellets

Pellets

Springs are consumables that have to be replaced eventually. To get the longest life, stay with pellets under 18 gr. For general plinking try RWS $12~$15 for 500. For hunting use the most accurate. Predators are pretty good to around 30 yds. After that you want domes. Don't try anything too heavy as they take longer to reach the target.

Happy Canuck

Usually it shoots best with normal weight anyway, JSB Exact or FTT's.
