last week i was hunting a rabbit i took the first shoot n' it was not a deadly one the rabbit went away n' hide under a fallen concrete wall i had to take an other shoot n' the place was close to the ground so i took the shoot with my D54,,. the right side of the rifle was facing the ground,, because of the scope i couldn't take the shoot in the normal position of firing .
i noticed a little kick from the rifle n' a little different in the sound of firing !!
the shoot was ok the rabbit is in rabbit heaven now ,,.hopefully!!
i was able to catch an other rabbit, it was bigger n' it took only one shoot
it was the one
i went home happy !
but since i'm in love with my d54 .22 "the magic one" n' i don't want to lose her
is it bad to shoot the rifle when one of it's sides facing the ground? i usually don't do this but sometimes u got to do what u got to do !
the air rifle is ok n' it's still doing magic
thank you good people of this great forum
keep up the good work n' God bless

I suspect that

nothings wrong. The anti-recoil sledge mechanism doesn't work so good if the gun isn't right-side up. The kick was from the sledge not sliding as it should, this would also make the gun sound different. It probably won't hurt anything, its certainly not anything to worry about unless the problem starts occurring regularly even when the gun is in the proper shooting position.

If you shot your gun sideways or upside down ,should make no difference to the working parts. Is tru that the antirecoil may not work 100% as intended and your POI will change, it can sound different too.If you are woried because of the sound, try to reproduce the shot and listen carefully , but have in mind that a close wall or tall grass or any combination of your saroundings will afect the sound.I was not there, but my gess is that you had a combination of those factors, hence the anusual sound.
