RWS 460....anyone come up with a 470 TH solution for the front sight?

Since the 470 TH is a ways out, and from what I understand, outrageously expensive, there has to be an alternative.

I was curious who in this crowd of tuning gurus has come up with a way to replace the crappy plastic factory-issued front sight and cocking-barrel locking piece with something similar to what the new 470TH has coming out. I have contacted two tuners that said it couldn't be done. Is this REALLY true?

Example:

If you could get the part NO. of the 470 one it might be able to be ordered, GINB do custom parts, have a look at these Diana bits.
I have now got use to the plastic bits on my 460 and dont mind them but I know what you mean.
Barry.

GINB ?

A quick search shows they did some stocks at some point, but I don't find a site. Happen to have one?

Thanks for the info, I can't get any details on the 470, let alone schematics/part numbers.

Who made those metal parts in the pics?

I have not personally, but they are thought to be one of the best for custom parts and stocks.I have heard they have a dedicated team working for them, top quality stuff.
Try some research, perhaps someone hear has used them.
I would like some parts from them myself but I bought a new laptop yesterday, so my toys will have to wait for a while.

if I end up ordering, I'll post here if anyone wants to combine on the international order.

Thanks

I don't see why it could not be done

Rich in Mich used to have metal muzzle brakes/lever holders for Gamo CFX's to replace the plastic one. Maybe what they meant is it isn't profitable for them.

It would be so much easier to order a 470 part if it was available. I may contact RUAG and see if it is available or if it will be in the future.

Spoke to Glen @ UMAREX

He said the 470 break will not work on the 460. Not clear on why, and I wish it weren't so, as the 460 version is a real wart.

Response from the guys at DIANA.DE

October 6 2009, 11:13 AM

Here's the basic gist of what I got back from them on this:

>> Further note Sir that barrel and system mod. 460 / 470 are one unit and because this fact only the barrel could not be changed.

What a load of crap to be honest! I've been a die-hard RWS fan for a couple of decades now and this is a joke that it can't be removed. I simply don't buy it, why else would there be an allen-screw on the front sight? There has to be a way for it to be removed, they don't manufacture them that way!

I emailed Diana today asking the same question and if they could give me a part no, so I suppose I will get the same answer.

We will have to get a few of us 460 fans to order from GINB to make it worth there while, just a idea.

Well, keep us posted

Last price I heard on the 470 TH was over $800 which is insane!!

There HAS to be another alternative, just a matter of digging it up!
