Robin:
What's your purpose for selling the templates? What goal are you trying to achieve?
Your website appears to be on Internet Marketing. Are you trying to bring more visitors to your site? Looking for another revenue stream?
Here's my experience with both that you've asked:
Templates in general....
I'm an old school webmaster (did the design, marketing and graphics) who no longer has time to design. My own website is from a template.
http://www.123marketing.com that I paid $28.00 for. I also designed this site:
http://www.sunsethousefla.com with a template that cost $27.00. I designed my private site with a template that cost $50.00,
http://www.123marketing.com/celebratelife/ I am getting ready to design a law site with a template that will cost $26.00.
I have a friend who's a fabulous web designer and I've been recommending to her to start doing templates. When I bought my first template earlier this year, there were tons of free sites but only a few pay-template sites. Now there seems to be a boom in this business. Which helps me to earn money on the side because with a template I can kick out a site in 2-3 days for small ones and a week to a month for the larger sites. The design is usually the part that takes the longest. I LOVE template sites.
You templates. I don't currently have a need for anyone that would need those particular designs. But if I had someone that'd like one of them, I'd pay $10.00 - $15.00 for them. A $5.00 site is a header image only (bought one of them a while back).
E-books. If your purpose is to grow your Internet marketing business, than an e-book will do you better than selling web templates. Hands down.
If your heart is into the templates and you're looking for another cashflow generator...go for it!
Hope this helps!
Elizabeth
