Hi,
With all the fuss about spam, ISP filters and the
rest (along with some new laws being proposed in
certain States) here is what your confirmation
message to FFA and Classified Ad postings may have to
look like in the near future.
Enjoy,
John

Hello,
From: John Glube, Glube’s - Business Services
On February 11, 2003, you or someone using the email
address ~~EMAIL~~ posted a link for your business to
the FFA Farm.
This message confirms your link was posted.
My problem is I want to give you a gift as my gesture
of good faith for posting your link.
What is the catch?
Let me tell you a brief story, and this will answer
your question.
Woops, I apologize. Since you may object to receiving
a commercial message from me, even though you or
someone on your behalf verified your email address
and acknowledged your willingness to receive
commercial messages, here is what I suggest.
To find out all the details, including reading an
interesting story, you will want to go to this site.
Wait a minute, you have not told me anything. What's
the article about, you ask? And what's the gift?
Nope, can't say. Even though we have not done
anything wrong, under some new laws being proposed,
the spam police may take you and me, haul us before
the Judge, who will try and throw the book at us and
lock away the key.
Or your ISP might prevent you from ever seeing this
message. Pretty soon email will start to look like
Egyptian hieroglyphics. (All the funny looking
pictures.)
Just between us, come on won't you tell me?
Okay, a little hint. You will find an interesting
article which starts "The 10 Best Ways ...
Well, gee thanks. Now, you ask, are you going to tell
me to stop wasting my time posting to FFA boards and
get an FFA board from you?
Nope. (A posting strategy when properly implemented
can help. But, you need to know what you are doing.
Unfortunately, most people don't.) Go to the site,
read the article and you decide.
Just use this link,
(Due to all the traffic, the page may be a bit
slow loading. It only takes a few seconds.)
Kind regards,
John

P.S. Don't worry, it's okay for me to suggest to
you to visit a site and give you the link. (I just
can't tell you what the site is about.)

What's the point?
On a more serious note, in my humble opinion, police
action, laws which make a mockery of online commerce,
ISP filters (which only begets more aggressive
spamming) and paying for the right to send email
(which only legitimizes UCE) is not the way to go.
(Forums like this where people can ask how and
others are willing to provide comment and help are
a core component of helping us all in learning the
right way to go.)
To read an interesting commentary on the whole issue,
take a look at what Dr. J.L. Scott had to say in the
February 10, 2003 issue of Whistle Blower.
Here is the link:
http://www.i-Cop.org/wb/021003.htm
and then take a look at the February 24, 2003 issue
of Whitle Blower. Just go here:
http://www.i-Cop.org/wb/022403.htm
Why am I giving the second link? Because Dr. Scott
wants to start a grass roots movement of online
marketers opposed to 'paying for the right to send
email'. And posts like this hopefully will help the effort.
Thanks,
