I agree with Robin. Spam is getting to be a big deal nowadays. It raises never ending issues too.
I also use freeautobot and I subscribed my personal hotmail and yahoo accounts and the messages come in to my junk mail folder. Due to this and other filters out there, the percentage of message that gets through to the person's inbox is getting smaller, specially for free autoresponders.
Fortunately I have not had an experience like yours, and I hope it doesnt cause you any future problems.
