Hi Everyone,

For some time now I have been thinking about having my website translated in other languages. Current statistics show that internet access by regions are:

English speaking: 35.6%
European speaking: 34.9%
Asian speaking: 24.9%

Things have now changed from seven years ago when over 80% of people on the internet were from an english speaking background.

As I have no idea how to translate a website or even how it works I would appreciate all comments and input.

I have been looking at unicode. Does this mean that you change to unicode from html, then people from other languages use a plugin to read in their languge? Is unicode the best way to go, re search engines etc? What are the drawbacks of having a multi lingual site?

Does anyone now roughly the cost of changing a site using unicode or a good translating firm.

I am very interested to all thoughts on this topic.

Thanks, Chris.
