You need to do reciprocal link exchanges. You will get ranked in Google as well as Yahoo and other search engines. In a few months of consistent linkin you will be #1 for some, if not all, of your keyword phrases. It's also free and easy to do.
Just ask webmasters of sites that are of similar content to yours for a link exchange. Then you put a link to their site on your links page and they put a link back to your site. Many will refuse but a lot will accept and once you get ranked most will accept.
It's a simple concept that most webmasters are utilizing these days.
