Response to How can I grow my email list?

Hi Buzz,

The age old question. How to get more prospects?

Essentially, the methods people use to get more prospects are the same one's to bring visitors to your business site - with a few twists.

* There are a variety of "free" list building services - essentially involving exchanges of traffic, etc. - which you can join. The more people in your group - the more times your sign up box etc gets show.

* Listing in directories - there is some good software around to aid you in this process - and generally to help you build your list.

* Writing articles - again there are some excellent resources on how to do this - and were to post your articles.

* Ad swaps - I run your ad in my e-zine, you run my ad in yours.

* Link exchanges - to bring visitors to your web site.

* Setting up traffic portals - giving away stuff in exchange for a person's contact information with permission to follow up. Use This To See An Example.

* Using co-registration services - essentially setting up a system to buy leads and then marketing to these leads.

* Listing in search engines and search engine traffic.

This is a short list. I am sure others can provide more techniques.

There are three resources I would recommend:

Depending on your skill level - Email for Newbies is helpful - you will find more information about this product at the Newbie Club

The Amazing List Machine by Paul Myers is an excellent primer on the process of building a customer list.

Co-Reg-List-Building-Secrets System by Ed Thorpe is a first class resource.

(I admit having a bias as one of my products is a bonus to Ed's book. Despite this, I happen to feel it is an excellent resource on the topic.)

I trust this information is of some value.

Kind regards,
