Depending on the size of the entry I don’t think that running dogs and bitches at separate times is going to be very feasible. Even with running two rings it is usually a very long and tiring day. I can’t imagine having the time doubled…
It is my understanding, ultimately, the reason to stagger the classes in the first place is to ensure that Bred by Bitch and Bred by Dog are not in the ring at the same time. Logically the easiest way around this is to start one of the classes first and then the other last.
However, many people run into other conflicts every year and dogs do not make it into the ring with the people who can show them the best. Why does the schedule not get made up in the same manner that the supers do the all breed shows…
1. Wait until the show is closed so that the number if entries in each class is known.
2. Each class would have a designated start time based on the number of entries in the classes prior. This way the rings stay on a set schedule and one won’t run faster than the other. This would eliminate a lot of the stress of the day as people must constantly keep checking to see what class the judge is on, is he/she fast or slow and how many are left. I think knowing exactly what class is in the ring at what time would be much more enjoyable for spectators too.
3. Instead of running classes in any particular order you could determine the order by what works out best to eliminate conflicts between rings. Make the schedule up so that each ring is staggered sufficiently to allow people to show dogs in both rings.
