Very challenging job

by

Scheduling Nationals week is a very challenging job. If you have 280 entries between Dogs and Bitches, using the standard rule of 3 minutes per entry, your show would take 14 hours, not figuring a lunch break. In addition to the three Specialty Shows, BCA has 18 standing Committees most of which will meet on Sunday or Monday. They must prepare their Committee reports and have them ready to present to the National Council Meeting on Tuesday morning. Many of the people who attend Committee meetings and/or the National Council meeting are also showing on Monday and Tuesday. Re-convening the National Council meeting is common in order to accomidate showing. It is a very challenging task to schedule meetings, activities and show schedules during National week. For your reference, a tentative show schedule is made by the Show Committee at least a year in advance. The actual show schedule is made up after show entries are closed. Show times are set up based on the number of entries in each class. The Class order can be changed prior to the publishing of the Judging Schedule, after that AKC will not allow changes.
Respectfully,
Calvin Dykes
