"CALL IN DAYS!" Countdown in Dallas, Texas!
"Call In Days" are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday (June 3 & 4) to
Dallas city officials listed below to oppose the Chapter 7 Animal Ordinance
Revisions. Of course, if you miss these dates call in anytime. City
officials' offices are recording "For" or "Against" phone calls. You will
have to give your address. Out of town callers can express concerns that
the "animal rights" extremists are attempting to get this passed in every
city in the country and this is not a local issue. Where will future pets
come from? Be sure and tell them what you oppose (below)! Don't think for
a minute the ordinance supporters aren't already calling, faxing, and
emailing. Since they toppled the Alamo City, Big D is next on their agenda
to end all pet breeding in Texas!
Dallas city council will have a briefing on the Chapter 7 Animal Ordinance
Revisions June 18th with their final vote scheduled for June 25th. Dallas
is a beehive of "animal rights" activists (as in all major Texas cities) who
have worked for years to infiltrate city government, ignoring the solutions
to animal problems developed by Nathan Winograd of No Kill Solutions. It's
programs and services, not legislation, that will solve animal problems in
all cities. Everywhere this legislation passed 15 years ago is a proven
failure. But the extremists never give up and while they say they do not
want to punish responsible animal breeders their actions belie their words.
They plan to picket the Texas Kennel Club Dog Show July 5 in Dallas, calling
AKC exhibitors dog "killers" in their emails publicizing their
demonstration.
This is preposterous.
Responsible Pet Owners Alliance says enforce existing ordinances and
vehemently opposes these sections:
* Pet Limits mean fewer homes for pets.
* Mandatory Pet Spa y/Neuter is unenforceable and means more pets
surrendered and killed at Dallas Animal Services should the city try.
* Breeder or Litter Permits are unenforceable and will not be purchased for
"accidental breeding of litters" in South Dallas, which is where Dallas
Animal Services says most animals are impounded. If anyone wants a pet, all
they have to do is go on the Internet or outside city limits. How does this
solve anything?
* Mandatory Microchips are controversial and should be a decision made
between the pet owner and their veterinarian. City should go into South
Dallas neighborhoods with free microchips and free spay/neuter for their
pets if they want to go that route.
* Anti-Tethering Ordinances mean many large dogs will be turned loose
resulting in packs of dogs roaming the streets, threatening bikers, runners,
walkers, biting and spreading disease. Tethering should be humane with
love, exercise, shelter, f ood, water and addressed with educational efforts
by Dallas Animal Services.
A lot of phone calls to make, but so very important. Please help Dallas pet
owners! If you get an answering machine, leave a message.
