ALERT!

Kern County Board of Supervisors VOTES NO on Mandatory Spay/Neuter Proposal

We are happy to report that the vote by the Board of Supervisors was a unanimous “no” to a mandatory spay/neuter requirement in Kern County.

All but one of the supervisors were present for the vote, which was reached despite the presence of L.A.’s Animal Control commissioner, Ed Boks, as well as the western director of HSUS, representatives from In Defense of Animals, and other supporters, only three of whom actually live in Kern County. Those speaking in opposition, including Ms. Coffman and Ms. Anderson, were all residents of the county, with the exception of CDOC’s Cathie Turner, who left prior to the actual vote.

CFODC’s directors all work quietly and tirelessly to defeat the animal rights agenda as it continues to encroach upon our rights and infest our society with its anti-animal legislation. This particular issue was not an easy victory and we would like to thank our CFODC Vice President, Judythe Coffman, and Director, Janice Anderson, for their dedication and hard work over the past year to achieve this success. In addition, Janice, who is a member of the county’s Animal Welfare Committee, has been appointed to a newly created task force designed to explore ways to improve licensing compliance and provide a more accurate means of recording shelter statistics within the county.

Each success strengthens us as we continue to fight this insidious war. We are all a part of it and together we will win.

Onward and upward!
