My first bully as a pup growled at my daughter consistantly and I had to make my daughter (age 4 at the time) the dominant one in my dogs eyes. I made my daughter control the food etc.. and it wasnt long before she respected her as she did the adults in the family. I think it can be worked out as long as the child isnt scared and of course they are supervised at all times.
