iPetitions is owned and operated by Angle Three Associates, LLC.
This is not a non-profit organization. Here's what they say about Donations.
From their site:
"Thank you for visiting our donations page. Your contributions, large or small, are greatly appreciated, and help keep us afloat. Your support allows us to giver users free petitions and promote genuine online democracy.
How much to donate
It's entirely up to you. If you're an individual hosting petitions on our site, we suggest an annual donation of $20 per petition. If you're a non-profit organization, we suggest $50 per petition, and if you're a corporation, the suggested donation is $100 per petition. Of course these are only suggested donations, and we appreciate any support you can provide. All your donations will be put back into the site: we may use them to develop new features or enhance existing ones. In time, we'll start an honor roll listing our donors on this page."
But they also say elsewhere on their site:
"Is Quick Petition free?
Yes. Our goal is to empower average users with sophisticated online tools. That's why we provide this free service. To support this service, we run advertisements on the petition and sometimes after the petition (i.e., after the user has signed). These advertisements are essential to providing the free services that thousands of users depend upon. "
So, do the advertisers pay for the operations of IPetition or do the donations make the corporate wheel turn for those who own the company, in this case, an LLC ???
I truely believe the best petition for the cause we're concerned with should be headed up by our BCA.
IPtition is just another way for a group of people to make lots of dough on-line by playing with your emotions and operating under the guise of being a non-profit organization, helping to make the world a better place.
Instead, it's for profit and your donations are NOT tax deductible...
