Question......... Do they offer testing for elongated palate genetic markers?
by
Just wondering as I don't see that mentioned as one of the things everybody is testing for. All else seems to be listed, but elongated palates are not.
I know of a bulldog vet in So Cal that says "ALL" bulldogs can benefit from an elongated palate surgery, while at the same time, it's a prohibited alteration according to AKC Rules Applying To Dog Shows, Chapter 11, section 8A. In that section is a list of things that cannot be done to alter a dog and still be elligible to be shown. Correcting an elongated palate is one of the items listed.
I'd like to hear from those that are behind all this testing and what they think this surgery.
Just know, I support cleaning things up within our breed but in no way am I labelling the breed problematic.
If you go to my web site for DK Bulldogs, you'll see my crazy and funny now 10 year old challenging others to take a toy from her mouth as she runs around. Her daughter is also on there dancing away. She's 7 years old.
Anyway, I hope we can learn form the responses this post creates...
