I'm sorry I really don't mean to be getting into anyone fight but for this show there is a very valid explanation as to why so many dogs were absent. Poor sportsmanship was not in it really right the opposite. All but one or two of the dogs that were absent only needed a major to finish. When the show didnt make a major these dogs were pulled. One of the other absent dogs was my puppy bitch that turn 6 months old that weekend. She wasnt ready to show but would have shown to hold the major when the show didnt make the major she was pulled. Some of the others absent had very valid reasons and most of the reasons revolved around the major breaking.
I cant speak for other parts of the country but here in the southeast where I show this has happen more then normal this spring. There are several dogs and bitches in this area that are singled out and only need majors. The attendance has been down and unfortunately several owners have lost a good bit of entry money being good sports by pulling when the major didnt make and not taking the singles that others can use. I can see where this would look different to someone who doesn't know the people entered but maybe this explains a little about what is going on in our area.
