This Bullytin Board should be used to discuss health, diet, and new owner issues.
Participants are encouraged to discuss personal experiences,
however we will ask that you refrain from using names of other individuals unless you have prior permission. Additionally, The Bullytin strictly prohibits the sale of dogs.
Just landed last night from Budapest. 200 dogs from over 20 countries and a very successful meeting of the first ever World Bulldog Congress.
As soon as we find our lost camera card I will share some pictures.
The people were great, the city was spectacular and the dogs... Incredible.
The best set of bitches I have ever judged. Deep quality in males too, although the girls had the advantage.
If I haven't asnwered your emails yet.. give me some time!

I really wanted to go but unfortunetly I couldn´t make it.
Celio had a freak accident two months ago but he is fine now. He left the Hospital 2 weeks ago and he is home now after a couple of surgeries on his foot.
Stefan told me that next year show should be held together with the FCI World Dog Show in Slovakia, so I hope I can go this time.
Well, I´m glad you and Jack had a great time in Hungary.

Well, when we arrived at our hotel it was mid-afternoon & we knew that they had us pretty much booked "working" the following two days...so, if we wanted to do any sight-seeing this was our slot! After consulting with the concierge, we found out it was too late for any formal "tours" but decided we could just squeeze in a ride out to the Hollywood sign & catch a few of the other "classics" in the area.
They called a cab for us & we ended up with a very interesting cab driver, originally from Serbia, who gave us quite a tour in the three short hours we had. He knew how to watch the rush hour traffic flow & take side streets to give us the best path to our goal & he drove us up onto a hillside, walked with us up a short trail...and there was the "Hollywood" sign a short distance away (there are houses & other buildings in front of the sign so this was the best place to get a clear photo)
So...here's Mr. HollyWoOF himself! (it was a record hot day, so we didn't stay out long!)
And here is my budding Filmmaker-Son, Micah...
As I mentioned, Micah was filming a "DoGumentary" of Gabe's Hollywood Trip, so we decided we should try to wander down by the Chinese Theatre & do the famous "Walk of Stars".
We didn't want to take much time due to the heat, but quickly found one of Gabie's faves...
We started into the area where they have handprints/footprints of the stars, but didn't see anyone we were familiar with. Then, just ahead I spied Charleton Heston...unfortunately we were blocked by a security guard who told us, "No dogs & no video cameras allowed!" Oh well...
Just then, as if on cue, we were approached by a skateboarder, who set his board down right in front of Gabe, gestured towards it & smiled. Little did he know that he'd chosen a bully who can handle the board!...To his amazement, Gabe took off skating down the Walk of Stars, while crowds of people started racing along after him snapping pix & video as he zoomed along! It was too funny...you'd never know we hadn't rehearsed it all!
Here our "Star Boarder" stops to pose for the camera...
And, of course we have the Ultimate Battle of Da Biggies...GABE MEETS GODZILLA!!!
(...and, he showed HIM who was Top Dog!)
Mission accomplished, we returned to our hotel. Micah & I then went out for some of the BEST sushi I've ever had. Never been too much of a sushi fan, but I had some wonderful seared tuna & Micah had some pretty incredible deep fried soft shell crab shushi (we took tastes of each others & it was GOOD!)
The hotel was right by Santa Monica Pier & the bright, fun colored "carnival" lights were very fun to see. The next morning Micah & I took a quick walk on the beach (I had HOPED to get a pic of Gabe with a surfboard, but it was much too hot for Gabie so he stayed in the air-conditioned room!)
The hotel had a fancy fenced garden made especially for the pooches to use as a potty area, so Gabe made sure he kept the shrubs well-watered during our stay!
All in all, our Precious Pupster felt pretty well pampered!
...he even got a little surfer duckie to take home with him!

and, of course, had lots of fun learning in all kinds of hands-on creative ways (which is great for creative kids like mine are!) Birthday parties I always made a cake cut-out to whatever the boys were into...a guitar, a dinosaur, etc. & parties would be lots of fun, too...for one of Micah's birthdays he was into Batman, so I got a refrigerator box & made a Batmobile for them to play in
All of the time I invested into them is coming back to me now...they all love to spoil me, take me to lunch, give me neck rubs, etc.--and they all make a point of coming over at least once a week for our "family day" You get what you put into it, I guess--and I feel quite blessed!

The Clarion-Ledger (Jackson, MS):
Ridgeland may ban pit bulls, others
Proposal expected to be taken up today at aldermen meeting http://tinyurl.com/MSbreedspecific1
Subject: Proposition 2 would give authority to activists
October 6, 2008
Proposition 2, the HSUS-backed measure in California that seeks to outlaw certain modern farming practices, will appear on the November 4th ballot. We view Prop 2 as one of the most serious measures ever promoted by animal rights extremists and urge its defeat.
Under the guise of “stopping animal cruelty on farms,” this vegan-led measure would ban almost all modern egg production in California, outlawing scientifically approved and well-established methods used by farmers for decades to safely house hens.
We have joined the coalition to fight Prop 2 because we believe in a balanced approach to animal welfare and recognize that this measure would produce harmful outcomes for animals, consumers and the state of California. We issued an alert earlier this year outlining our grave concerns about this flawed initiative.
Animal activists could be granted police powers
Feedstuffs newspaper recently reported on another troubling aspect of Proposition 2. According to lawyers who have analyzed Prop 2, an obscure provision in the California penal code allows certain non profit animal welfare organizations to obtain peace officer powers. The result is that animal activists representing these organizations can compel issuance of search warrants, which allow them to enter and search and even arrest violators of animal welfare laws. Such enforcement powers are usually reserved for law enforcement authorities, but under Proposition 2, there is every reason to believe that zealots from groups like People Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) could be granted such authority. Read more about it here.
To put the issue in perspective, one has only to recall the 1995 discovery at the Van Nuys-based “spay-neuter” group, Mercy Crusade, where the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms found an estimated $100,000 worth of stockpiled weapons – an arsenal which inexplicably included assault style weapons. In short, Proposition 2 has the potential to unleash a tide of vigilantism by animal extremists. In California, the Mercy Crusade would fall under the definition of groups capable of enforcing the new law simply by obtaining a warrant. We cannot allow that scenario to play out.
A growing list of organizations and newspapers oppose Proposition 2
It is good to see that so many organizations and local unions like the UFCW and Teamsters, the California State Firefighters Association and Hispanic, African American and senior associations as well as major newspapers throughout California have recently come out against Proposition 2. We are also pleased to note that the AVMA has issued a strong statement expressing its concern about the measure. Click here for a full list of organizations opposed to Prop 2.
What you can do to help defeat Proposition 2
It is encouraging to see such leadership uniting to oppose Prop 2, but we still need a big grassroots effort to be successful. Please take action now to defeat Prop 2 and make this initiative the turning point for radical propositions based on emotion, misinformation and sensationalism. Here’s what you can do:
1. Encourage your friends, club members and business associates to vote no on Prop 2.
2. Spread the word about the harmful effects of Proposition 2 making sure that people understand that Prop 2:
o Is backed by a vegan-led animal rights organization based in Washington D.C. that has no stake in the outcome;
o Will cripple California’s egg industry and wind up moving egg production out of state, and out of country, where animal welfare standards are lower than in California;
o Will create serious health risks by outlawing the housing systems that protect hens from diseases like Salmonella enteritidis and Avian Flu; and
o Will drive up the cost of eggs and other food for Californians.
3. Send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper opposing Proposition 2 using the NAIA Trust media link.
4. Call in to your favorite radio talk shows and express your opposition to Proposition 2 when the subject is raised.
For more information please visit the Californians for SAFE Food website as well as the NAIA website . We’re in for a tough battle against Proposition 2, but an informed public can and will make the difference.
Thank you for taking action to oppose this extreme measure today!
Sincerely,
Patti Strand

They are so cute!!! It kills me when the little sausages flip over on their backs and sleep. The only one of ours that has kept it up into adulthood is Holly. She still sleeps flat on her back with her legs sprawled open- not very lady like..lol.
Congratulations on the nice puppies.

Isabella is the other sister...just like the rest almost solid brindle. While they are certainly not famous...Sara and Kirin have produced some nice puppies for sure. If Sara and Kirin enjoyed showing, there could have been three that finished out of that litter.
Thank you once again to Mary for letting me use some frozen semen from Bubba. He certainly gave me what I was looking for.

You FAiTHFULLY gave us your "One-A-Day" and it did the trick and got GABE to LA....Soooo, we tried to chronicle our adventures so we could share with all of our GabesteRoOTeRs when we got back. Let's get started! My son, Micah also brought his pro-video camera along and is working on the "DoGumentary", so look for that to be up on YouTube in a couple weeks, as well!
Many were concerned about how Gabie got down to LA...well he flew in style, of course! He had all of his Service Dog credentials (being short half a lung can come in real handy sometimes! ) Gabe traveled right beside me, laying at my feet on board the plane...and he did a wonderful job of it, too, taking it all in stride as he usually does!
Here's Gabe with "his" plane...
Bone Voyage!
We found out about two weeks before the voting ended that we were well in the lead & they wanted to start getting our paperwork in order for our trip to the Finals (of course we were reminded that voting was not complete yet, so it was not totally a done deal...they waited another week to give us the "FOR SURE"!)
We were flown down last Wednesday (the morning after the polls closed) & arrived in Santa Monica, where they put us up at Le Merigot Hotel near Santa Monica Pier. This classy hotel caters to pets & had a "garden" area for pottying your pooch. Gabie made sure all the plants & shrubs got equal watering! (he's pretty thoughtful that way!)
He quickly made friends with the hotel crew & is seen here with several of his friends...
(these guys asked me if I could tell which one was the bulldog...but I told them I knew mine was the WHITE one!
Here's Gabe hangin' with The Concierge...
(we missed catching the evening one, as she'd gone home for the night when we came back with the camera)
It was fun watching the other five Finalists wander in--and we all KNEW who each other was as soon as we saw their pooch, since we'd been following each others progress for 3-4 months! Many of us had commented on each other's videos and had become friends of sorts...
There was great comraderie & no feeling of "competition" at all...we were all just enjoying being a part of the fun!
Well, enough for tonight...stay tuned for Part 2 tomorrow sometime!

when you would be home. Congratulations. Honest to goodness, my kids have Nickelodeon on every single night. Last night, they were outside playing until after 8:00. We came in, did baths, and the next thing I knew, it was 8:50. I COULD NOT believe I had missed the dang show.
Is it rude to ask??? Besides the title, what did Gabe win?
Posted on Oct 6, 2008, 10:22 PM from IP address 67.127.55.2
...so we were home to watch ourselves on TV Don't mind you asking what the prize was...it ended up being $15,000 cash, plus all the Finalists were given a new Bissell vacuum (Bissell was a sponsor). Part of our prize was also the flight down & accommodations It was a pretty whirlwind trip, but an interesting experience & lots of fun! Don't know if they'll have re-runs of the show, but I'm sure there'll be something up on YouTube at some point.

For those that don't know Tommy White, he is one of the kindest individuals you will ever meet. His love for people and dogs alike know no bounds and he would literally give you the shirt of his back. Not to mention, as a military veteran he has already done something for you without even knowing you.
For those that do know Tommy, you know what I am talking about, so if you could take some time out of your day and pray for him I know he and his family would appreciate it.
Keep fighting the good fight Tommy ...we love you

I would like to remind everyone that when making banquet reservations no matter how you are paying, you still need to contact MJ whether it be by phone, email or snail mail and let her know your food choices. Each table should be sent in together, the same way it is done every year. We are getting single reservations saying sit me with “so & so” and this doesn’t work. Please send in your entire table reservation with food choice, names and payment together at once, or you will not by guaranteed to sit at the table of your choice. If you are paying by credit card directly to Dorothy Prager, you still need to send MJ your names and food choices.
Very simple-
Call MJ at 610-539-2968
Email – redbrickbulldogs@comcast.net
Mail –
4050 Eagleville Rd
Eagleville, PA 19403
Payment must be made prior to 11/2!!!
Also the Catalog order deadline is 10/15
$25 per catalog
I am getting all these calls and emails at the last minute..and I have been communicating the information for everything on the online forums and via email as well as all of the information is listed on the Nationals Website www.2008nationals.homestead.com
The week is fast approaching us, it will be here before we know it!! I would also like to remind everyone that if you have a hotel room reservation and do not intend on using it please call or email me ASAP. We have a waiting list of names waiting to get in to the Host hotel.

Today at approximately 1pm Nacho's kennel was broken into, the kennel help was held at gun point and all of the dogs were stolen. We believe that the dogs will be sold out of Mexico, possibly in the U.S. Majority of the dogs were adults, two were bitches that are nursing litters and one is bred. There is also puppies...PLEASE...PLEASE...PLEASE...keep your eyes and ears out. All of them but the younger pups are microchipped. Nacho is offering a big reward for the return of the dogs. If you have any information please contact me ASAP!!! No questions asked, we just want the dogs returned!

These are our friends dogs. Buster is 10 1/2. The little girl in the middle is Gracie. I thought I would just share a cool photo.

So sweet.... As a Sidenote- Hudson was bred by Jessica & is a littermate to Jordan who just finished his CH last weekend! CONGRATS JESS!

Just have to tell you how much fun these two have together!!! They share toys, are each others shadows, and Baron cocks his head to the side just like his brother. It cracks us up when they sit at the sliding glass window and look out into the backyard. Huddy even lets Baron use him as a step when he's trying to climb on the couch. The best part is that this bully is sooooo protective of my son. Never did he bark at a soul and now every weird noise he'll stand over Baron and bark. It's a testimate to what a wonderful breed the bulldog is!!! Thanks Jess!! We wish you much love.

Brennen and Alana are doing very well! It just runs through my head that people get sick of hearing about my dogs...and that they would get SUPER sick of hearing about my kids if I let loose like I want to. We take all the "typical" pictures of the kids and the super sweet moments...I'm sorry but we will never share. I will get Edgar to post pics...the pics in general stopped from me, cause I can't for the life of me figure out this Mac...sigh...

This is actually Brennen, Jess and Alana, but she is in the pouch .
This was such a fun day. Unfortunately Jess' other four kids had school, so they couldn't come with us. The best part was that Jess got to see my son in action and me reminding her that Brennen was showing all the signs of being a BOY! He was looking up to see how the carousel worked rather than enjoying the ride.
Also, it's so nice to hang out with someone who doesn't pay attention to my kids fighting half the day away. LOL
