In one of my better dreams, the singer from Creed and Fred Durst had to fight to the death. They both killed each other. It was a good dream.

Creed sucks becasue:
1. the lead singer is a douche, wannabe hard edge, deep bottom Eddie Veter.
2. All the songs belong in "Top Gun" and no where else. If that's where your at, cool. Not me.
3. Lyrics suck. "When I am with you, I am FREEEEEEEEE". C'mon.
4. Did I mention the lead singer is a douche?
5. All they do it riff out. Power ballads without the Glamor Metal costumes, and Ed Veters vocals.
6. They are formulaic, prefabricated and simple.

I wish that once, just once, I could listen to the radio for more than 1/2 hour and not hear a Creed song. I guess I could tune in a country station... nevermind. I'll just continue to be thankful for the CD player in my car.

sad state of music
March 8 2002, 1:33 PM
Creed epitomizes everything that's wrong with music these days. And they've opened the door for so many other sucky bands (Nickelback, Staind, Linkin Park, etc.) on the radio that I rarely listen to anything other than CDs any more. Most radio music sucks so bad these days that it's not even fun to make fun of bands like Matchbox 20 or Third Eye Blind any more.
BTW, if you're gonna bag on Pearl Jam's vocalist, at least learn that his name is spelled "Eddie Vedder."

Not Nice!

C'mon, you can't rag on Third Eye Blind like Creed! There's no comparison, CREED SUCKS! 3eb ROCKS!
I agree with everything you guys have stated so far. Creed is riding the last few waves created by the whole "grunge" storm, an era of the absolute crappiest music in my opinion. I think that the Bart Simpson put it best when he said "Making teenagers depressed is like shooting fish in a barrel", which to me that was the intent of most of the music coming out at the time. Creed, now that's even worse. Keep the depressed thing, add a splash of Back Street Boy, some Jean Claude Van Damme, and BLAMMO! A big pile of crap. I may only be 23, but when I was a teenager I turned to punk rock music that had reasonable political connotations, or that had lyrics talking about just having a good time. Why would I turn to music that made me sad? Besides, if I wanted to do that I would pop in some Morrisey and try to figure out what the hell that guy's problem is. That guy has something to be sad about! I think. I don't know.

I agree...they do suck. I think that next Thursday's song should be something (anything) by Tori Amos.
By the way, love your site.

April 5 2002, 10:45 AM
Listen to the lyrics before you go making stupid comments like that -- Creed's music is not the depressing grunge crap that they're being compared too here... They've got the grunge alternative style goin, but they left out the depressing lets-go-get-high-and-jump-off-a-bridge kind of crap that makes grunge suck so bad.

Creed= Anheuser Busch

When I first heard Creed on the radio, I mistook them for a Budweiser commercial. At the time, there were Bud spots that had a singer who sounded just like the Creed guy and very, very similar guitar riffs...not that anything those cats are playing is much more than cookie cutter anyway!
Personally, I wish more kids had the chance to play musical instruments like I did, so that they could be exposed to more good stuff than the swill that the record companies put out. We need more arts and music education in the schools!
Todd, Creed doesn't necessarilly... well, yeah, they do, but beside the point, on your Word Up Program, what is the name of that background song? Its so damn cool, and I couldn't find it on an undisclosed P2P software downloading program not named KaZaA.
But then again, I also like Nickelback, Staind, Linkin Park, etc.

April 23 2002, 5:12 PM
Yeah, they suck. Righteously, though. Which is better than lame ass sucking, like Britney. There's no righteousness in Britney. She just sucks. Creed does videos with all these serious looking dudes, which means they're RIGHTEOUS. The worst kind of suckers.
I have resorted to listening to AM 660, 770 and AM 990. Oh, NPR is good, well, some of the time...Everytime I listen to any new band, I'm like, "What in the hell is this?" If I am really sickend by the news, I'll pop in some CD I bought like when I was in college and that was like over 10 years ago. Maybe we all should start our own band. hahahahaha

Next Thursday - Sneaker Pimps or U.N.K.L.E
Crappy music is the only way the RIAA can make any money from us. They are hiding all the great new music from us until they can "secure" it.
We already pay $18 to $20 for CD's. Imagine how much the new "secure" audio format will be! Hopefully we'll have decent enough music to justify the cost... (I haven't bought a CD in about 2 years... MP3's RULE!)

Creed sucks, but not for the reason you think...
July 4 2002, 10:44 PM
Really, lets be honest. their music has no imagination, but sometimes that's just what you want, crappy music that does not make you think. What sucks about them is that they belive they are the coolest band in the world. That lead singer is a big fat stupid ego trippin idiot. That's the same thing about Eminem. I really like his latest song, but I will never spend any money on his music because he is a dickhead. Why would I want to line a dickhead's pockets? Mp3s do rock, they let me hear the music I like by the dickheads I don't like for free, and they let me hear the music I like by the cool guys I like before I buy it.

I had thought Creed was a Christian rock band (hence the name of the band, and the title of songs i.e. "my sacrifice").
I agree that they suck. I just thought it was weird that a religious-type band was mainstream and popular.

July 21 2003, 8:54 AM
i'm sorry to hear about that. def leppard is by no means a good band. i realize you're only 13, so you're young yet. you haven't had the wonderful experience of listening to really great music. don't fear, there is still some excellent music out there. you just have to know where to look. and the radio isn't it. unless you have a decent college radio station. they usually play decent enough songs on those. how about you do something for me. just for fun, ok? try listening to the following songs and then tell me if you still think that Creed and Def Leppard are good.
My suggestions for the 13 year old with no taste in music:
Social Distortion - story of my life
Shudder To Think - so into you
The Eels - dirty girl
Suicidal Tendencies - hippie killers
Tripping Daisy - i got a girl
The Toadies - possum kingdom
Sneaker Pimps - roll on
The The - armageddon days are here again
Stone Temple Pilots - art school girlfriend
if that isn't "hardcore" enough for you,or if you just think those songs aren't any good, try these! (although those songs are in fact quite good. but i know you're only 13.)
Halo In Reverse - i machine
Skinny Puppy - assimilate
Front 242 - headhunter 2000
Deftones - Lifter
Element 80 - slackjaw
Gravity Kills - guilty
Medication - something new
Lollipop Lust Kill - everything i
And if you still insist on listening to the older stuff, at least give these songs a try.
Led Zeppelin - immigrant song
Eric Clapton - cocaine
George Thorogood - one burban, one scotch, one beer
Joe Walsh - life's been good
Lou Reed - perfect day
Neil Young - hurricane
Paul Simon - me and julio
Rolling Stones - paint it black
Travelling Willburys - tweeter and the monkey man
Also, anything by Nine Inch Nails or Depeche Mode are good. but that's just my opinion. i could be wrong.

Mostly good picks, thought there are far better Neil Young and Lou Reed songs, ie. Young: Cinnamon Girl, Harvest Moon, Heart of Gold. Lou Reed: Sweet Jane, Walk on the Wild Side.
Another great '70s band is Thin Lizzy--and yes, you do know at least one of their songs.

Awww now come on grunge doesn't suck!
I don't like Creed very much (although I did like thier first CD) but I am a huge fan of the "grunge" era of music.
I suppose though, its all just a matter of opinion.

Creed and everything else
August 4 2003, 4:03 PM
Creed definately sucks. Yes, I too am under the impression that the long hair, the biblical lyrics, the the overwhelming tight-assed facade so well developed in their collective persona is more or less an attempt to force the impressionable youth to believe that the lead singer is indeed, the reincarnation of Jesus Christ.
I too feel that bands like Creed and Nickleback, (jock rock in general) are riding the dying waves of the grunge movement. Cheap knockoffs of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, which were decent at the time, but, admittedly, I'm glad that time is past.
Fred Durst also sucks. So does Staind, Linkin' Park, Trapt or any other band who has the "original" idea of spelling their name improperly. Evanescence is Linkin' Park with a girl singer. They suck. All of "nu-metal" sucks. I can hardly turn on the radio anymore, there's nothing good on.
I was relatively excited when the Strokes and the Vines broke onto the scene. I was estatic when I first heard the Doves album. The Faint and the Rapture reminded me of the rebirth of New Wave. Zwan (a.k.a. the Smashing Pumpkins) sounded like something that wouldn't suck. Sigur Ros was to become the next form of classical music. I actually thought that the last days of the godforsaken, melodramatic, shit music that has comandeered the airways since the mid-90's were upon us. And then "Nookie" came out. And I thought, well, some things go out after a final stand. And now, there is whatever song 3 Doors Down did after another bomb, "Kryptonite." We will never escape it, as we will never escape 311 and Sublime or Phish, or DMB.
Even Radiohead has started to suck. They haven't had a solid album since Kid A (and even that was nothing compared to Bends or OK). We're in an atmosphere that celebrates shit. Eminem and Spears are only small examples of this. Christ, Weezer is lurid now.
And no one released a single from Nada Surf's new album. Nails hasn't put out anything in a while; God knows when that will be. And the old standbys are no longer with us. I think the record companies are trying to kill mp3 downloads by flooding the internet with shit.
The irony of all of this of course is the advent of XM satalite radio, where now, for a monthly fee, you can be forced to drive an icepick through your ear drum in less time than ever before. It's funny how society works.
And I'm not even going to touch Emo.

Creed was never a Christian Rock Band. The media just labeled them as Christian Rock because they failed to comprehend the lyrics. Listen to the songs in the first album. Have you ever heard a Christian Rock band use the phrase "God Damn"? Didn't think so, morons.

what i like about creed is that their lyrics actually have a positive upbuilding meaning, their christian backgrounds are reflected in their songs. they arent like other bands such as system of a down or the used who'se lyrics are all about suicide and are actually really depressing. creed do not yell or scream in any of their songs (except maybe in the song bullets) and the their music is not all as aggressive and depressing as you all make out; their style and talent is quite amazing, quiet and mellow where it should, and rough when the artist sings about things which show he is upset about certain things. creed is a talented band and should not be thrown aside with other bands such as Linkin Park and System.
Creed did their thing, Pantera, Jimi Hendrix, Offspring, Nirvana, now the Black-eyed Peas, etc. Yeah and along the way whole gobs of also-rans, one-hit wonders, etc, etc. You could put Creed over the last group if you want to. It's all a matter of taste. In the words of someone who got a nice little police beating, "Can't we all just get along"
