Response to The Trent Schools

but I will respond to the second question.

There are several recent threads on the high school board about diploma programs vs awarding your own diploma. This is a choice only you can make. Some children work better/harder if they are accountable to someone other than mom. Some families like packaged curriculum and do well with it. Some families like to put together their own curriculum or use something that is not available through a correspondence program.

Is your real question "Can my child get into college or get a job if mom awards the diploma? If so, then the answer is YES. My own children and most of our graduates at our homeschool support group have had diplomas made by their parents. Virtually all of them are in their first choice of college, vo-tech school, apprenticeship, or job. In many cases being homeschooled has been a plus as some schools/employers actively recruit homeschoolers.
