I have a Zenith 52 inch projection unit that has a picture doing funny things....a repair man came to my house and told my wife that a new "mainboard" is needed and the cost will run 850 dollars.....it's only a few years old....that's what I can't understand....I'm just wondering if it's a setting I need to play with....someone told me my problem is a "copnvergence" issue....what it's doing is the picture is curving or dipping twards the center on all 4 sides and tapers up to the corners.....the repair man my wife called is not known to be the best place to go for this type of repair....so I'm wondering how correct he was in determining this.....and I'm wondering where I can get the main board to install it myself....the unit is a Zenith Z56Z95...if anyone has anyinfo on this I'd be greatful....I am slightly technical in this field so I'm not affraid...I work on electronics all day at work....mainly repairing monitors....but this is a first in terms of projection.

Your problem seems pincushion
A good tech will replace some cap or

Hi...
As long as the pix is curved in from all the sides....
I'm wondering if you can do something for it by yourself,so,pull out the front speakers grille(front panel) then unscrew 2 screws on the front wooden cover then look toward the swap board (on the left side) you will see 2 adjustable white color resistors one for vertical size and the other one hor.size try to adjust them and see.If no chance then you need to get new swap board which is around $200 from LG.After you replace it you need to do the ver&hor size adjustments.
good luck.............

I looked at it and it's not all four sides like I thought it was....it's only the top and bottom(bowtie look) giving me the illusion that it's all four sides....I will try what you said....and thanks

This sound like high voltage regulator, You problaly replace this high voltage regulator at one point and when you replace the pin the pin did not going in right therefore it cause that problem. Check the pin that going in the high voltage regulator and see if it is bent or not and try again. good luck

I must agree with TV Man.

Your need to have the main filter capacitor replaced.
that causes the picture to curve from each side to the center of the set.

Good Luck...
