I have a rear projection RCA model #P52730CK with chassis #PTK169PCB. While watching, it shut down. I couldn't turn it on. Have checked the power cord, pulled the panel and found the 5 amp fuse opposite the power cord was blown. It was a light fuse blow, no discoloration on the tube so I replaced the fuse. Still the set will not turn on. There are no noises, hisses, etc. I had this set worked on before and the technician said there was a reset button on this set, he said not all these models had resets but this one did. Was he jerking my chain? Looking for a way out before I spend another $500. This set was manufactured Oct. 1994.
Serial #441586105 and service #P52730CKLG1.
Don't know if these latter numbers will help but trying to offer all info available.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Ron

Seldom does a fuse blow without reason, often the chopper will fail blow several parts including the fuse, so that a new fuse if fitted may not blow. Reset button, if you cant find it , it aint got it. There is no reason to believe you will pay $500 for a repair if its just a chopper and surge limiter, so get a quote.

Common replacement failure parts are Q4101=SGSIF461=RCA # 200165, U4101V=TEA2261=RCA # 200419, F4005=5 amp fuse, C4108=47 Uf,50v, C4108=39 Uf,50v=RCA # 208002 (in some units), C4108=47 Uf,100v=RCA # 193623, CR4101=546-002=RCA old # 164588,RCA new # 207878,some say you can also use RCA # 164589 (small diode), CR4106=A-23=B4304=RCA # 176296 (large diode), C4102=2.2 Uf,100v=RCA # 242026,RCA # 195691, C4104=15 Uf,100v=RCA # 189982, CR4118=PFR 851/6,FR305=RCA # 164590 (huge diode) and CR4122=BZX855 3VC=2.7B=ECG5065A. In some cases these parts also have a high failure rate: R4118=CF 33K ohm,1/4 watt=RCA # 175314, R4114=MF 45.3 K ohm,1/4 watt=RCA # 176506 and R4001=2.7 ohms,15 watt. When it comes to Sony & RCA ALWAYS USE OEM #'s or the exact generic #'s when it comes to semiconductors but for electrolytic caps you can use any replacements.
