I HAVE A RCA 27 INCH IN TODAY LISTEN TO THIS NO HV HAS SOUNDI CHECKED THE HORZ OUT PUT TRANS GOOD. I HAVE DRIVE ON THE BASE AND 130V ON THE COLLECTOR ,NO PP DRIVE ON
COLLECTOR. SO I DROVE THE FLY AND GOT HV, SO OK I CHANGE
THE OUT PUT AND I GET PICTURE NOW THE VOLUME IS LOUD SO I TRY TO TURN THE VOLUME DOWN, IT WON'T I CAN'T CHANGE THE CHANNEL EATHER. SO I UNPLUG THE SET TO FEEL THE HORZ OUT TO SEE IF IT GETS HOT,THEY HAD A D3402 I PUT BU517 IN JUST TO SEE IF HV COMES BACK AND IT DID NOW I TURN THE SET ON AGAIN I GET SOUND ,NO HV I STOPED RIGHT THERE
SET LOOKS LIKE IT HAS A E PROM IC BUT NO SAMS OR RCA
SCHEMATIC I AM STUCK. I BELIVE THE FLY BACK IS STILL GOOD. I CAN DRIVE IT WITH EXTERNAL B+ AND 1200VP/P
AND POWER IT UP AGAIN TO MAKE SURE A WINDING IS NOT OPENING UNDER LOAD, I DON'T SEE HOW THE E PROM CAN KEEP THE HORZONAL OUT PUT TRANSISTOR FROM PUMPING IF YOU HAVE BASE DRIVE AND 130V DC ON TNE COLLECTOR I EVEN PUT A 60WATT LIGHT BULB ON THE COLLECTRO TO GROUND AND IT LITE RIGHT UP. WELL MAYBE ILL TALK TO YOU SOME MORE LATER.

I found a hair line crack on the main board across the 17 volt line the 120 line and collector of the horz
output transistor looks like the set was droped, that transformer was just heavy enough to crack those traces.

Good find & good fix, Roger!

Thanks for the follow-up. Far too few post any resolution as to what fix they find.
