There are some misalignment of colors in the lower screen section and the left side. I think its a convergence board problem but maby its something simple. If it is a covergence board problem is it easy to repair and where can i purchase it?

Now... that being said, the problem you are having now...based on what you
said and I haven't seen a screen shot so I only assume, is simply a goofy
little attribute known inherent in this and other models and brands. As I
explained...I understand it to be related somewhat to a power surge or
outage that kinda "scrambles" the convergence. In the event this is what
happened to yours...there is a very good chance that you can use the service
menu to "reset" the convergence back to factory or...with a little study,
time and effort...better than factory. These little sets will produce a
perfect, studio-quality picture when properly set up.
Also realize that this convergence issue is probably in some way related to
the "STK" amplifiers that control the convergence parameters. STK's are
notoriously weak because they generate a lot of heat...and heat kills
electronics. Every RPTV uses a set of STK's and 8 out of 10 times when a set
by any maker fails...its probably one or more the STK amps. STK's are little
components that cost about $12 each (but can be found around $6)...usually
three of them, each controlling one color gun.
There are some articles...and I have them, that discuss upgraded STK's that
can be used as replacements that are far superior to the stock installs,
when and if you decide to do that. Most people, that own this TV...when they
have a problem like this...they call a repairman or sell the TV thinking its
a major problem...the fact is in our case...its just a "Quirk". That's why
I have been able to buy two for under $220. The first thing the repairman
says is...it needs STK's (because it usually does)...at $250 or more with
labor. So....they are either sent to the shop for repair...or out the door
to the salvation army.
In closing...my 43H70 is exactly like your 55H70 except for the screen size.
If your convergence is corkscrewed in strange ways on the screen showing
different color lines warped in different directions....you have a good
chance that the tips I provided will straighten it out for you. If its more
than you can handle....you could probably get a local repairman to simply
adjust it for you for maybe $100 or less. However, if he takes the time to
get it perfect (which I doubt)...when you throw it into the car...bounce it
across town and plop it down in the living room floor...it will probably
need to be "tweaked" again to achieve the better picture, vibration causes
misalignment. The user level convergence will probably suffice once the
major service convergence alignments are completed.
On a side note, The 55H70 I bought is still waiting for me to spend a little
time on it...it does need one or more of the STK"s replaced. It powers on
but there is a mechanical/component problem that only replacement will
resolve. Many say that it can be done at home with basic skills but I have
yet to tackle it. I also heard that an entire convergence board is available
at Sears online but haven't pursued that further...money is short for toys.
good luck

Hello there,I also tried to adjust the convergence problem on my Toshiba 48" model-TP48E61 after the power company changed the power meter and messed up my TV. The red, blue and yellow are not align, they are about 1" apart from each other and the picture bowed in toward to the center. Can you tell me how I can adjust it to normal? Or some part you thing I need to replace? Thanks so much! if anyone can help me out on this one!

Forgot to say the IC just replaced a month ago by the service man. Because of the TV won't power up turned out it was the cold soler join and paid $250 for it. I hope someone can help me out on this one. Thanks again!

Will....I can only speak of the xxH70 series...they are the ones I have experience with.
Everything I have learned...I found on Google....thats a good place to start.
I think that lots of issues can be resolved and improvements made from inside the service menu and to my knowledge...all RPTV have a service level menu...if you can figure out how to get into it.

I have one of these units that apparently had a power surge and now powers on and then immediately powers off. Has anyone had power supply protection? issues with this baby??
Thx

Try a hard reset. You must unplug the power cord for at least 4 hours.
If this does not help, it means there is a hardware failure of some kind.
The protection circuit is what keeps the set from turning on and it is protecting the set from further possible damage. The only thing you can do is have it diagnosed at a repair shop. The failure could be anywhere in the system. Most common are high voltage and deflection circuit breakdowns, but it could be anywhere within the set.
Many shops will give you a free estimate, but you must take it in so they can test it. Others charge a nominal fee for the evaluation. If you have them come to your home it will cost from $50 to $80 for the house call plus the other work they do.
Just unplug the power cord for 4 hours. This will allow all the internal voltages to discharge to zero, thus resetting them when the power is re-energized.
A reset corrects for corrupted eproms and memory cells that build up when strange things happen to the set. It will correct for many operational things, but not all, of course.
