I have a Sony KV 35542 that the color comes and goes.It will be fine then the color will fade in and out for a short time then will be ok.Any ideas? Thanks

Replace the cristal and variable capacitor,i think
this will solve the problem.

spelling tells me you are usa, crystals are seldom faulty and vericaps are rare as well but yes adjusting your varicap by a micrometer, if that fixes replace it, the xtal, hit it not hard just a tap, if ny change, ok therwise dont waste your time

Yes the cristals are seldom faulty, but it happens.
Sony sets, ( here in europe) often the varicap is defective,
it's common problem. We mount a cap 15pf instead and no more problems.
