My 32" Toshiba tv stopped working after about a year and a half so I called around to see what repair costs would be. I was very unhappy that my tv stopped working and even more unhappy at how much repair shops wanted just to diagnose the problem. So I decided to look at it myself. I removed about 8 screws from the back and the whole back cover came right off. I started looking at the large circuit board inside without any clue as to what I was looking for. I started noticing a fuse here and there and I came across one that was burned. A trip to Radio Shack and 1.99 later the tv was good as new. I know not all tv problems are this simple to fix but it is worth it to at least take a look yourself and maybe you too can save 100 bucks and the hassle of lugging your tv down to the repair shop. Hope this helps someone.

It' not always that simple;
When a fuse blows, most of the time there is a reason
and most of the time it blows again after changing
if that is not the case it can blow in a few houres or days
hope for you it stays good!

a fuse that looks faulty blew for a reason, you have not dfound the reason so though your tv works you dont have your answer

I agree. I fully expected that the blown fuse was just a symptom of some larger problem. I was very surprised that the new fuse didn't just blow like its predecessor. But that was two weeks ago and so far so good. That's the only reason I felt confident enough to post on this forum, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

if the fuse was the mains fuse which is likely it will be the degauss ptc that flashed over. That could work for a time OK dependant on the time of cycle at switch on.
