Symptom - Occasionally but more often now then before, remote
control does not communicate with the TV. I have changed batteries
and make sure that I press the "TV" button on the remote prior to
trying to change channels. Still no remote function.
Out of frustration I lightly kicked the front bottom of the TV in
the center and remote operations resumed. Knowing that this is not a
standard, reliable or long term operational proceedure I would like
to know if you would know where the remote sensor is located or
where are the most likely areas that would cause this symptom?
Now, I have tried the remote control battery change out. I can get the TV to turn on by unpluggin it from the wall at night. When I want to watch it I simply plug it in and try the remote. Yes I am pushing the TV button. If the TV comes on with the remote I can usually run the channels. But if it sits, it will simply not acknowledge that I am in the room. No Volume control, No channel control. Also the on/off button and the channel and volume buttons on the front of the set do not work at this stage. But usually the ole' swift kick wakes it up and all is well for a little while. Then it simple forgets about me again.
Thank you for your input.

Sounds like bad solder on the senser of the TV, only other issue is the lights in the room, turn those off. Some of the newer type of lamps can saturate the senser.
