KP41T25 alignment question

Replaced the convergence voltage regulators. Plugged all back together and 4 resistors under heat sink for stk392 burned so replaced them (47 ohm). Now TV comes on with sound and picture but multiple images on screen. Seems like on for each color. Did convergence but while lines aligned stil multiple images on screen. Did I miss replacing a component?

Thanks

SOUNDS LIKE STK IS BAD. DID YOU USE PLENTY OF HEAT SINK COMPOUND?

Not sure if I fully understand....

Did you check all the resistors prior to replacing the STKs? If not, maybe some were bad, then you installed the new STKs and burned them and others?

Anyway, as was already suggested it does sound like you now have a bad STK or both are bad.

Suggest that you check all the resistors and replace those that are bad. Then, install a brand new set of STKs (they are not very expensive). I wouldn't even try to figure out which one was defective...just replace them as a set.

Thanks all for the advice so far. To recap: I've replaced the convergence voltage regulators. I then plugged everything back up and the resistors R1616, 1618, 1620 and 1622 were burning. I replacedthe one STK nearest them since I thought it was burning. But then found the resistors were smoked so I replaced them with new 47 ohm resistors. Plugged it all back and got the multiple images.

As you all advised I replaced the other STK. Now all I get is the power light on the front blinking. Don't even think I hear the HV charged up as no static sound. Hmm, what did I mess up or miss now?

I did check and all the solder joints on all replaced components are good. I did use a grounded soldering iron for the STK parts.

Thanks again for your help!

Ron

Sorry a bit of new info. Found one plug had worked loose. Reattached now get high voltage (can hear the static when I turn it on) good sound but none of the guns are firing so no picture at all. Read light on front continues to blink.

try turning up the brightness on the screen control, located on focus block, to see if you have raster or pix. also if i would still put in (BOTH) new stk's again. and check all fuses, resistores, & diodes on board, and make sure you don't over heat the stk's with the soldering iron. good luck

Ron,

Also, are you absolutely sure that ALL those resistors were the same value of 47ohms? I am not familiar with that model, but have recently worked on a Hitachi and it had several different values.

Also, once they burn, its really hard (almost impossible) to read the color code on them anymore.

Just something to confirm/think about.

I did find several websites that did advertise service manuals for a good price..under $10.

Replaced both STK units. Perfect sound. HV comes up. No picture at all. Fuses OK. Front power light blinks and never stops blinking. Any ideas before I just part it out?

Thanks

Try replacing the IC301 (CXA1477AS) on M board.

Good Luck,

All guns work. Power supply board works. Problem with set was convergence. Have all boards and wiring harness. Let me know if you need something or perhaps want it all. All items removed from cabinet.

Thanks
