Hi, I have 27" Sony CRT. The CRT goes blank for 5 seconds and then picture comes back, audio remains always, only video blanks to black screen for 5 second, then comes back. It was happening only rarely, now happen more often.
How can repair this problem? Is there bad component?

well i guess i'm going to have to leave my crystal ball out on my desk from now on, because apparently we have the reputation of being mind readers on make, model, & chassis numbers!

does the picture actually go to a smooth black raster? if so, try another video input or antenna input. check for any loose solder joints at tuner and associated circuity. does the picture go out suddenly, or does it kinda fade out? when the picture comes back on, is it suddenly,or slowley? if it is slowley, then check for bad solder joints on CRT board, or loose socket connections on CRT board. good luck

It is likely caused by 2 possible things: Check for bad solders on the vertical IC (If the vert sweep collapses the tube will blank- scan loss protection.
How is the picture when it is on? Milky and weak looking? The picture tube is getting weak. You can try to bump up the G2 control and that will buy you a little more time.

Sony tubes are famed for cathode heater shorts, the thing shorts out at random and the tube blanks off. You can fix this with a 6.5V transpormer feeding the heaters, you cut everything off to isolate the tube pins and feed the pins with 6.5V from an isolating transformer or 2 turns on the limb of the flyback well insulated.
