No Horizontal deflection

i have a sylvania 6427cta
It had a Shorted HOT. All else looks ok. I replaced the HOT and powered it up.
B+ measures 120v on and 43V when turned off.
Problem now is no picture. Just a single vertical line. I know this is usually yoke connections but all looks well. Connections are good. windings measure ok.

any suggestions?

you should have between 150v and 165v at the the big cap and a litle more at the hot collector.you also should check vertical ic.

I would suspect the S shaping capacitor has gone open. This is a big blocky thing 6 to 12 NF feeding the yoke or there may be chokes feeding the east west that are dry.

You said chokes which may be dry or did you meant to say CAPACITORS?.

Why would I say that

If I said a choke (a small coil) why would I put that in print and mistake that for a capacitor, I have done this for 40 years, I dont do that.

Does one expect a loud guffaw from this, how droll. if you dont know what was implied why offer such a stupid reply, or is that just you.

Hi I DO NOT want a guffaw on this but in my initial post was quitely asking if it was a capacitor that was dry I have never known of chokes being dry ,you defended that you know a choke from a capacitor ,I do not have to get personal nor simplistic.NO I dont know what was implied, but took your responce literally.

FIXED!

i fixed it.
it turned out to be a bad yoke return cap. it had a tiny crack in it and it measured .18uf instead of the .33uf it is supposed to be.
all is well now. in fact it is too well. the picture is now off the screen too wide. I'll have to sdjust things. I suspect it was a crappy cap to begin with so adjustments were made to compensate for it. Now that i have a good one in there i'll have to tune it down.

I doubt you can adjust.you may have to check more caps in the east west circuitry.
