toshiba ir help

anyone, I have a Toshiba 32AX60 with an intermitant ir sensor. Can this be replaced by someone with average ability. I can solder and have limited electronic knowledge.Thanks

Hi. If your sure its the actual Ir sensor then yes if you can solder. just dont let it get to hot!

you may not even have to do any soldering, because some tv's have plug in IR sensors.

I have seen the IR sensor fail on Toshiba, but never intermittently. Also have never seen one that wasn't soldered in. Make sure the batteries make good contact in the remote. Clean the contacts with an eraser.
Tip: If you have a camcorder or video camera, point the remote at it. You will be able to see if it has any output. The camera's CCD pickup will make the IR visible.

Correction to last post: I have seen a couple plug in sensors many years ago in Zenith and Sylvania sets.
The ol' memory is failing me. My bad!

But that Toshiba sensor is DEFINITELY a solder in unit.
