Does anyone have anything official (Service Bulletin) from Hitachi or Sony stating that there are suitable substitutes for the original convergence IC STK392-110?
Some research around the net suggests that the STK392-110 can be replaced with STK392-120, or -150, or -180 which are supposed to be an upgrade. I would like to install an upgraded IC, but will not deviate from the original unless there is tech data.
Note: The following site says that if you substitute the STK392-110 with an STK392-150 in Sonys, then you must also change out a resistor. See:

I'm currently working on a Hitachi Projection 53UWX10BA (Year 2001) with a burnt RK54 (1.5 ohms). Found many bad solder joints around the 2 convergence ICs (STK392-110). All other resistors and diodes checked ok.
Thank you,
Lenny
