STK392-110 Substitute(s)

Does anyone have anything official (Service Bulletin) from Hitachi or Sony stating that there are suitable substitutes for the original convergence IC STK392-110?

Some research around the net suggests that the STK392-110 can be replaced with STK392-120, or -150, or -180 which are supposed to be an upgrade. I would like to install an upgraded IC, but will not deviate from the original unless there is tech data.

Note: The following site says that if you substitute the STK392-110 with an STK392-150 in Sonys, then you must also change out a resistor. See: http://www.electronicsic.com/P_STK392-150.htm#

I'm currently working on a Hitachi Projection 53UWX10BA (Year 2001) with a burnt RK54 (1.5 ohms). Found many bad solder joints around the 2 convergence ICs (STK392-110). All other resistors and diodes checked ok.

Thank you,

Lenny

LENNY THE ONLY REPLACEMENT I KNOW OF THAT WOULD REPLACE IT CORRECTLY, IS AN (STK-010) IT OPERATES AT 15KHZ AND 38 VDC , IT IS A 5 AMP INSTEAD OF 3 AMP LIKE THE (STK392-110) . J.C.

Since you are working on a Hitachi let me give you a part number X480295 this kit has two STK394-160 Ic's that work real well for the 392-110 plus this kit also has every resistor in the Hitachi convergance curcuit, even if you dont use all the parts for its price of around 36.00 its a hell of a way to stock pill these resistors for other repairs

Does anyone know what the part number for the kit to replace to the convergence IC's for a Hitachi Ultravision 53sbx59b? Will X480295 or X480293 work?

Thanks,
David

For Hitachi model number 53UWX10B (DP14G Chassis), use Hitachi kit X480293.

X480295 is for chassis DP15.

The right value of the resistors are important in these models with the magic focus.

STK392-150 is a good sub for STK392-110.
