HI I searched but couldn't find a topic that was like the problem I am having.

The TV was purchased in 2001 from ABT Electronics new. I have not had any problems with this tv until just 2 days ago. When I turn the set on after it's been off for a while the middle 1/3 of the picture is tinted green and there are small blue and red lines along the top of the screen in the left corner to about the middle. When I press the menu button on my Tivo the menu is distorted and the left and right edges are curved like this ( ) instead of this [ ]. I know thats not the best description but I hope it gets the point across. The color of the menu is also distorted and tinted green. After the set has warmed up for about 15 min the picture returns to normal.

My first thought is maybe a loose connection of some type. I repair large industrial machinery for a living but have never worked on a tv before. I don't want to cause more damage by digging into it with out a little advice first.

Also I have tried to find a service manual and schematics for this tv but haven't had any luck. I would be willing to pay for it if anyone has a copy or knows where I can get them.

I would really appreciate any help anyone can give. One of the reasons I love my job is there is a lot of satisfaction in fixing a machine that is not working. I would really just like the experience of fixing this myself but if worse comes to worse I will call a service tech out to the house.

it sounds like a convergence problem. it proably has bad STK'S

After reading a lot of posts here on other Mitsubishi models that is what I was thinking also. It seems that these tv's all have the same problems regardless of the model. I am going to go to ABT Electronics today and see if I can talk the service department into selling me a service manual.

you don't need a service manual, just look at the numbers on the STK'S and purchase from an electronics shop. there could be one or two in your set. you need a fine point soldering iron, solder wick, a tiny metal brush, and good soldering skills. good luck
