I have a RCA tv model# 32F530T, chasis# ATC113CD4, manufactured December 2003. The other night I left the apartment for about 4 hours and turned off the tv before I left. When I returned the tv would not turn on. I tried both the remote control and the button on the tv itself. I also tried plugging the electrical cord into multiple outlets. When I push the power button nothing happens. NO noises, NO lights, NO nothing, it seems to be dead. Any suggestions on what might have happened or any course of action would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon

Thanks for the response. Ive never fixed a tv before. Is this something that can be done by a handyman. Or do i need to get a professional....and roughly how much does something like this procedure cost, assuming the RP27 resistor is the problem.

Dont know this set but chances are RP27 is the start resistor, if that is open you get the fault you describe. The filter capacitor remains fully charged and if you meddle with RP27 you will get a whack. As i say I dont know your set but you will have to check that with a meter.

To me a handyman is someone that mows grass ,paints, rakes leaves, etc. etc. unless he is a tv tech, he CAN'T FIX A TV! everyone thinks tv repair is so simple that anyone can do it. Well they CAN'T. IT TAKES YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. knowledge, tools, equipment, schematics, and also an above average IQ needed. Maybye a fuse replacement is feasible, but that is about all a regular guy is capable of doing. He will usally cause unrepairable damage if trys to do anything further. So anyone who thinks they can repair an electronic device their selves are telling me that their IQ is low. sincerly. TV TECH.

Dang man....I'm sure he meant no disrespect, but I guess he could choose his wordsa little carefully. That being said, I for one do know the difference between an electronics tech and someone who paints/mows/fixes the toilet. But I think I could do some minor repairs on a TV as long as the piece was reasonably sized and unobstructed, hehe. You are correct......you can't just call any old scallywag to fix your TV.
Just my 2 cents

I have an above average IQ. I took that damn thing apart, and was able to diagnose the RP 20 resistor was deformed. I went to an electronics shop and bought a new resistor and got my friend to solder it. It didn't work. I then replaced a fuse that was was blown 5A125V. The tv works. I've raked leaves, cut grass, painted a house, and now have fixed a tv. I guess a little gumption goes a long way.
Cheers,
Jonathan
