I've had this old projection for quite some time with no problem. After the unit had been on for around 20 minutes, the picture seemed to start fading out leaving only green with fine white lines running horizontal. You can go into the setup screens and you can adjust the red and blue alignment, but like I said you can barely see red and blue to begin with. This Green screen is always there in matter if its cable tv or an input (DVD). I can do component level work if need be, but I'm not sure where to start. If anyone has an ideas please let me know. WW

check green crt socket for weak resistors, oh transistors that are breaking down after warming up. get a can of freeze mist spray & cool components to find bad ones.

To the Anonymous that responded...Thanks Alot. I pulled the Board off and started checking the resistors. All seemed to be within spec. I desoldered the transistor and checked it like a diode and from emitter to collector it showed 318ohms each way. No one in town had a replacement, so I swapped the transistor from the Red gun...soldered everything back together...turned it on...and now I have a totally red screen.
Does anyone know where I can get the "NEC C4001" transistor from the internet. I'm in Daytona Beach and they really dont have good electronic shops...at least I dont know of any.
What a great site this is....Will

I think that you are looking for a 2SC4001 manufactured by NEC. See the following website for a datasheet on it. See if it looks like what you have in your set.
I cant believe I almost threw this TV away, but thanks to great people helping others out, I wont be throwing anything away today.
It was in fact the transistor. I ordered a few extras from the Electronix web site (along with some extra stuff) and had it sent next day air. It cost more for the shipping, but I'm glad I did. I replaced each transistor on all 3 boards. Every thing is back to normal.
Now on to the next stage. I havent searched the posts yet, but I would like to learn how to do all of the alignments and settings within the service screens. I already knew there is a little hole in the front cover to activate the service area. I understand some of it, but I'd like to know more.
The reason is, I did the user convergence alignment through the menu options from the remote. The color convergence is close, but you can really see that the Blue is off when your watching a DVD. Its far enough off that it kind of hurts your eyes. I then used a paper clip and entered the service screens to see if there was anything I could change. YEP..There's tons of things, but I need some help before I really screw things up.
Anyway..Does anyone have a list (or can explain) of main settings or ways to realign the color convergence?

Most likely a problem in the convergence section. It can be something as simple as bad solder joints or a low ohm resistor that has changed value or the IC is going bad. Things don't drift that far out of alignment without a reason.

Yes...Pioneer still offers the S/M for around 50 Bucks. Looks like I'll be ordering one next week. As for the old post, No one would give me any advice on that other site so the TV had been sitting around for a while. Good thing I found this one.
Thanks again...Will Watson

piece of advice is do not adjust anything at all till you have carefully checked the convergence board etc. These settings seldom change and what you have is a component tolerance change which you will have difficulty correcting by adjustment. Also after you fiddle it becomes harder to find the fault.

another peice of advice is that there is really no perfect picture on a projection set. they are close but not perfect. their has to be a trade off somewhere, either a corner, or a section that is not real notisible. but ther is no way to get the entire screen perfect. even the factory will tell you that in their manuals. so if it is a good watchable pix, then i would leave it alone.
