SO WHER CAN I FIND THE CHASSIS # ON THIS THING AND A SERVICE MANUAL WOULD BE GREAT (#7566 IS WHAT PHILIPS SAYS BUT THEY DONTSELL THEM ANYMORE).I SEE THE EXPERIENCE YOU TECH GUYS(LIKE DAVE) HAVE AND IM BLOWN AWAY BY HOW EASY YOU MAKE THIS STUFF SEEM.SO HOW ABOUT SOME HELP WITH THIS BEAST PLEASE.I STILL HAVE AUDIO AND POWER LITE,THE COOLANT IS NASTY LOOKING AND THE BLUE LOOKS TO BE LOW,BUT I DONT SEE ANY PHYSICAL SIGNS OF DAMAGE FROM LEAKAGE.IT WAS VERY CRUDDY BEFORE I CLEANED IT UP BUT THAT SEEMS TO BE COMMON IN MY LIMITED EXPERIENCE. AND YES I KNOW ITS AN OLD SET (CIRCA'97)BUT IT WASNT PUT INTO SERVICE UNTIL LATE '99 ANDIT HAS LOW HOURS IF THAT MEANS ANYTHING.I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU BRAINIACS CAN THROW MY WAY AND WHEN I GET THIS FREE POWER THING FIGURED OUT I WILL BE GLAD TO RETURN THE FAVOR!! I need to know the chassis # it will start with PTV -835 0r something like that before I can help you. also it will have two main boards inside. one is the large signal board on the right side, & a small signal board on the left side. LOOK REAL CLOSE at the large board toward back for dampness from coolant. I would bet that has caused the problem. it also needs the coolant changed. usually the blue, but I have had to change green also. good luck, Phillips Tech TOM

First of all, thanx for the kind words. I think your set is a PTV 700 series- the chassis # should be on the back of the unit.
If there is no light coming from the tubes it is quite possible the flyback transformer has failed. One thing you can do is pull the rightside board out (large signal board) and find the HV out xstr near the flyback. Check it for short from emitter to collector. If shorted, it probably took out R934, .33 ohm resistor in the emitter leg to ground.
Also, on that set, there are callouts next to the pins on the connectors on the left side which are a great help when troubleshooting. That chassis can be pulled out pretty far so you can get to 'em. Grab your meter, and check for presence of 130 volts and the other supply voltages listed in the callouts.
If you manage to score a new flyback and get it working, we'll tackle the fluid change in another post!
Good luck,
Dave
PS: also look to see if you can see the filaments in the tubes glowing, and listen if you can hear the HV come up when you power the set.

Agreed, it is always a plus to have the factory service literature. You can use the schematix along with the callouts on the boards. That chassis is a pretty easy one to service, actually.
