i have a 19"citizen that needs a 470uf 200v cap and im having trouble getting one its vertical output could i get away with a 160v i cant find a 200 or 250

Tend to agree, voltage in the vertical is no more than 50 odd volts, sure that wasnt a stuck in comoponent that someone else shoved in. Electrolytics should be about the voltage the manufacturer specified, never below. You can increase IE most suppliers stock 16V, 25V, 63V, and miss 50V, You should not use a 63V for a 16V type. You could parallel say 2 X 220uF 200V, as electros are not high spec the odd plus or minus is not critical.

Yes, you can use a 200 volts or higher cap, but you cannot go lower on voltage. also keep the MUF the same

You would not find a 200volt cap in the vertical, the cap being asked about would be in the power sopply,the poster does not seem to know what he is about.
