Hi,
I have a PAnasonic PV M2024 TV VCR combo...opened it up because no sound but everything else (on the TV) works fine...found the speaker wire disconnected...cannot locate where in the maze inside the recepticle for the plug for the speaker is...it should be on the "amplifier" for the TV, right? I still can't seem to locate it...any help would be GREATLY appreciated...

Hi Bill,

Just wondering how the speaker wire came loose? Are you talking about a loose wire or a disconnected connector? Usually, a connector doesn't just come off. Also, there is usually 2 wires that feed the speaker. Are you dealing with 1 wire or 2 wires? How about the color of the wire you are dealing with?

Was this set moved around recently? Was it worked on or did someone have the back off of it?

I assume that you've traced this wire or connector to confirm that it does go directly to the speaker(s).

Not familiar with this set and didn't find a service manual on it. But, in most cases, the manufacturer will give only enough length in the wire only to reach where it is supposed to go.

Sometimes the board will be labeled with SP for Speaker.

If there is a headphone jack on the front of the set, check there for a broken wire. Many times the headphone jack is in series with the speaker line.

Let us know what you find.

Hey thanks for the response so far...it is a connector...there is a red and a white wires that go into the female connector marked "2"...I just cannot find the male connector...this is the GFs TV and it was used by a previous roomate who ruined the VCR portion...the back was taken off by them trying to fix it...it was moved a couple of times and then left in storage...when she asked me to get rid of it, I thought perhaps I might fix it if it was simple enough...anyway...so much stuff inside the back of the TV but I cannot find anything that looks like the male connector...the red and white wires go directly to the leads for the speaker itself...
Thanks for the help so far.

Are you sure that is the speaker wire. Ask yourself how could that fall out, if you dont know then it is unlikely that that is your issue. There are often leads with plugs on them in sets where they are not used, some are where the factory can flash the memory IC, if that is what your plug is then you could wipe the memory of every function if you hitch that up to something. If the wire comes from the speaker then yes it has come adrift, check it for kinks and bends and try to lie it as relaxed as it wishes to be and that will get you near the socket.

thanks...there was an earlier attempt to "unclog and find out what's wrong" with the VCR portion of the TV...the back was removed...then this has been moved around a bit.
When I plugged it in, the TV portion works great but no sound...I took the back off and saw the two leads from the speaker and traced the wire to the connector...it was attached to nothing...the female end is attached to the leads on the speaker but I cannot locate in all the mess, the male connector for the speaker...
Thanks for any help.

The TV section is only a monitor so it will not be there. You will have to carefully check the video section for your socket. As it will be low powered I would not be searching for a large IC. Normally it should be able to be plugged into without the need to remove shields so check the sides of the VCR panel.

Okay...I will give that a try tomorrow...I was working on it in the garage prior to hauling it to the curb...not the best light and my 45 year old eyes regrettably aren't what they used to be...must get more light...thanks for the tip.

looked on the VCR sectiopn and sure enough there is a white recepticle with a grooved slot and my end has the raised section...it clicked in perfectly...thanks for taking the time even if you thought I was being less than honest...not too sure what was up with that but I'll thank you anyway.
