The sound slowly faded and then was gone. Tried external speakers with no luck.
Any help?

Now if the volume is all the way up you can just barely hear it...

Sounds like you lost the power supply to the audio output circuit. You'd have to have a meter to confirm.

Please see my previous post. Power supply problem. Unless you have a little electronics knowledge you will not fix this yourself.

Maybe some bad solder joints at the audio section or the power supply section that feeds the audio amp.

But as Dave says, if you don't have the skills to troubleshoot and execute the repair, its best to call in the service guy.

Good luck & report back with what is found.

Being as this set was built in 1992 and is 15 years old .......Bet there are a ton of dryed up caps all over the place, these will cause bad solder conection, But to throw a ton of money at this 15 year old set is not a wise move, Tv's no longer last 25 years like good old dad's grand zeinth. They age like cats these days, so you have a 15 year old cat...... Now don't come back and say I'm a cat hater, got several cats, one lived to be 21. but I still dug a hole every fall so if she died in the winter at least I had a hole in the frozen ground. .... So my advise is solder all conections replace a few caps but go dig a hole
