horizontal out transistor always defective.

gud pm,JVC Model AV-20NMG3 hor. out transistor always becomes defective(shorted) after awek of use.

check all the caps and diodes in the horizontal.

I would suspect the flyback transformer. But you need to see when it went, did it go on power up or is it random, random chances are transformer, power up could be a supply issue. Or if the transistor fails after several hours use it can be drive. If the transistor is not switched off correctly it will get hot and may fry after several hours so check its heat. Running cool then a random failure is usually a failure of the tripler within the transformer. I often hear about tuning capacitors but in years of experience these seldom are intermittent.

find the horizontal drive transformer ( before the horizontal output trans.) the capacitor on this usaly a low up and a high voltage , this cap is most likly bad
