I am retired but as the saying goes " the things you do for friends"
They have a dead Mitsubishi VS-55601. They also live two counties over.
Are there any common problems on these units? I know its 10 years old and I don't want to see them put to much money in it but if its repairable at a good price I do want to help them out.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try to resolder the power supply all over, look for bad solders,

These old Mit's are famouse for weak caps and cold solder joints . flip the boards over and simply resolder everything, if that don't work you will need to know how to check caps with a volt meater or get a cheapo ERS meater that tests caps
